It is almost impossible to tell a good set of fake pearls from a real set simply with the untrained eye. The website below has a few "experiments" you can try, but to get a definite answer, you will need to take the necklace to a certified gemologist.

Fake pearl are very symmetrical, all the pearls in the same necklace are same size and very rounded. Use a pen knife to lightly scratch on the pearl, if it there is powder coming out and use your hand to rub on the pearl, if the pearl get back to it original look, it is a real pearl. Normally a fake pearl have a layer of coating, if you scratch it with a pen knife, the coating will be scratched off and will revealed the plastic ball.

Well, take it to a jeweler. Also, if they are real, I would suggest that you try and find the owner. If I lost my pearl necklace I would certainly want it back, not because it's real, but because it has sentimental value. My mother bought me a pearl earring and necklace set (natural pearls, so they don't look "perfect") for my June birthday to wear for my June wedding.

I've noticeable a few quite well false T&Co jewellery. So convincing that if got here with a Tiffany & Co field and pouch! I quite would not be that worried. Your mother purchased it for you and it used to be the idea that counts. Plus no person is quite going to be capable to inform whether or not it is a false or now not. One inch change is not visible whilst it is round your neck!

the easiest way is to scratch it with something sharp(do not hurt ur self). If there is a thin coating coming out thats fake.Or if u want to do it the hard way give it to jweler then they'll tell.GOOD LUCK!!

Scratch them on your front teeth lightly. If it's a gritty feeling, they're real. If it's smooth, they're fake.
