Please tell me this didn't happen to you ..... I always think it is a crappy thing to do when companies wait until the last minute to call people to try to get them to volunteer for unpaid work activities ..... it can't be considered a volunteer day unless you are the one doing the volunteering ...... the company can ask you to volunteer to come in and help and that is your choice to do it or not to do it ..... maybe you don't mind helping for part of the day to help with a special project ....... or maybe you should say no because you need a day to rest and spend time with your family ...... that's your decision ...... as a volunteer, you have the right to set what you will be doing and how long your shift will last ...... if they schedule you for a day and later tell you it will be considered a volunteer day or hold it against you if you choose not to volunteer, that's illegal ! Hope this helps = )

That would depend on a lot of variables. How long is the shift going to run? is this going to be a requirement of everyone here at some point? and last but not least, will they 'volunteer', with no pay, to come on their own time & clean my house for me? These are the things I want to know :o)

Making judgments about ANY crew of human beings in accordance to a probability verbal replace with some stranger is close minded certainly. are not Scientologists meant to be open minded and correctly knowledgeable?

I seriously doubt that I would go. My time is as valuable to me as money, and no one should expect that kind of "volunteer work".

I would first try to negotiate that. If it's a requirement of everyone from time to time, then I would do it and not grumble about it. If it's not usual then I would have a problem with it, big time.
