What's the big deal with the whale hunt? Does the Bible not say, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."?

If God did not want us to hunt whales, he would not have given us dominion over them.

You, along with this 'donmecca' guy are sick puppies. Quit using Y!A to spout your sick-minded apolitical bile !!

To kill whales in this day and age(which seems endemic to the Japanese, for one 'race') is completely uncalled for and no particular use to humanity as a 'food' or 'fuel' source, considering that 'science' has taken care of that for donkey's years, along with your 'oil-loving' neo-con repubnut pals.

I say, b*** the ships out of the water after having given ample warning. That's a better 'deal' than Dubya gave Iraq !!

It's also a 'better deal' than the Japanese gave 'Pearl Harbor' on Dec. 7th,1941 while they had 'diplomats' talking out of both sides of their faces right in the good ol' US of A !! - no 'Congress' needed in Japan to attack Americans !!

The trouble is the whaling lobby in Japan has played the propaganda war in a very clever fashion. In Japan, the issue of whaling is virtually unreported and most Japanese don't even see it as an issue. When the whaling lobby and is challeneged by international groups, they play the nationalism card at home to get public support and basically denounce their accusers of racism. Something about Japanese culture seems to give them a fundamental lack of respect for wildlife whether it be whales or other species.

I have to side with the whales on this one. What the Bible says or does not say is a matter of inerpretation to many. If you want to take a literal interpretation, you're welcome to do so in America, but others are just as entitled to their opinions. The Bible does not say hunt a species to extinction for no good purpose. Most often, I loathe the PETA stance that appears to hold animals "rights" above those of humans. Here is the exception though, leave the whales alone.

FYI, not all people share your religious beliefs. So don't expect a general consensus among us. The Bible also saids in Leviticus that a woman is impure when she is menstruating and so is the man that touches her. It also forbids against eating shellfish and pig. You don't follow that, so why are your cherry picking the bible? I like the Japanese but this thing on whale hunting rubs me the wrong way and I'm no PETA freak person. I just don't like this whale hunting.

Japan for centuries has out fished waters. They also are re building their Navy. I read this and got upset myself. Why?

Perhaps a study of the culture is warranted. They don't exactly follow our Bible. Just pray God's will be done? Otherwise it makes no sense. I also believe Japan shall find themselves in a humanitarian fight world wide. Even the United Nations? Also keep in mind they have a new Prime Minister who no one knows where he will take the US ally. Recently they sent an envoy to Iran... thanks!

As long as we are talking about directives from a book written by men, why not choose a different source for your guidance for ethical treatment of resources we choose to use on this planet? How about Aesop's fables? The stories are better and designed to teach a lot of the same messages.

why cant we hunt whales??? does it taste bad??? I would think it was a efficent way to fish. insted if having to catch 40 tons of fish you could just catch one 40 ton whale. It would save time, money and energy. Sounds like a win - win to me!!

Did god invent radar, sonar, aircraft and cartridge-fired harpoons, too?

I think resting a world-view based only upon your religious interpretations is rather myopic.
