Let me set things straight. I HATE THE PATRIOTS. I don't like anything about them, but I feel that I must defend them right now.

I've had enough of all this, "oh, they cheated". NO THEY DIDN'T. That was just one particular incident 2 months ago. 2 freakin' months ago! DO YOU REALLY THINK THE PATRIOTS WOULD CONTINUE TO CHEAT AFTERWARDS AND NOT GET CAUGHT?

The Patriots have not been cheating ever since and they earned EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR WINS. Ya'll need to grow up and shut up. The Patriots don't cheat and that's that.

It's weird, after free agency and the draft, everyone sort of figured New England was going to be like this, this year, and after the first week, all of a sudden they're not that good, they're just cheating to be that good. And now they're not cheating and they are doing BETTER...so what good did cheating do for them? And did everyone just forget that they have Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth, Ben Watson, many RBs, great defense all around, and the best coach in the NFL?

Oh no no no, they must be cheating, it's impossible to score 56 points with those kind of players without cheating....

What bothers me the most is that people keep talking about running up the score. Teams do it all the time in college...these players all played in college and some have probably seen worse losses, they can handle it. They are professionals and it's not like the Patriots scoring 14 more points is going to matter, they still win the game 42-10 anyway..56-10 isn't really any worse of a loss. It is probably more degrading to see back ups playing you while you're giving it your all.

Sorry, had to get that out...

3 reasons:

1. People love to hate the lead dog. The Patriots blowing way their favorite team also contributes to this. The taping incident gives them an excuse. Think of it as "reverse bandwagonism" - how's that for a new term?

2. People like simple answers- if they did one thing wrong, no matter how small, then they MUST be EVIL!! Another great example of simple answers is the worship of the 72 Dolphins, who went 17-0 but played only 2 winning teams in the regular season. people just see the 17-0 and assume they're the best. The 85 bears were much better, and you could argue half a dozen other teams too, if you do the math. Simple answers for simple people.

3. Timing. this is the one good reason. With all the cheating going on in sports (steroids, basketball betting, etc.) and all the dishonesty exposed in the world (WMD, Enron, etc.) people are hypersensitive to anything, and just looking for the opportunity to cry foul! Unfortunately the Pats got caught, so they suffer the onslaught. it's really too bad.

I think the Pats have shown convincingly they are the best, and it's not just Brady or Moss or the O-Line, it's everywhere. people need to realize this and give them a break.

I am right there with you. I am a lifelong Cowboys fan and I too loathe the Pats.

Frankly, they are awesome, actually there are no more words to describe them as a team. Tom Brady has had one incredible season and I think he will be MVP. Even if they cheated 2 months ago, Brady and Co. still had to make the plays.

I honestly, think that everyone should enjoy the ride they are on. Even if you don't like them, they have made the NFL exciting. I don't think anyone can beat them unless they have injuries.

I'm with you on that. Being a Cowboys fan, I can't stand the Patriots. They are so good right now, it makes me sick to watch them play. But by no means do I think they are cheating. I've been saying all season that they won't go undefeated. But after they mowed the lawn with the Bills 56-10 last night, that goal is looking more and more like a reality. I just hope my Boys can meet them in the Superbowl and give them somewhat of a competition.

I'm a Patriots fan (since 1970) and I tell you what...I am getting tired of the team going for it on 4 and 1 when they are up by 35 points late in the game. It's embarrassing to the team and to the fans and I'm not going to defend it any longer. Coach, you've proved you don't need to cheat. Now get over it, man!

I don't understand at all...I'm one of the Pats fans that doesn't get all worked up when there is trash talking and "hating" but I am so tired of people saying the Pats are still cheating. Do they understand how hard it would be to cheat when everyone is watching for any reason for the Pats to be dethrowned?? I mean, EVERYONE (outside of the Pats of course) wants them to be shut down soon. They are going to have people watching the Pats entire sideline to make sure they aren't cheating. All it would take is one more screw up for the Pats to be out of the playoffs potentially.

The Pats wouldn't risk it. Bill wouldn't risk it. There is WAY too much at stake now to even think about cheating

I have to agree with you. I'm a Rams fan, so I'm obligated to hate the Pats. But I think that cheating incident was a one-time thing. Although, the coaches kind of brought this on themselves. They should have realized that if they got caught, people would be suspicious for the rest of the season. This team never even needed to cheat. Personally, I don't care what people think. But in my book, the Pats record this year is completely legit.

wow... didn't know anyone could be that ignorant... oh wait, we see it day in and day out here. i'm with you, in that i'm a cowboys fan, but past that, not a chance.

cheat to get where you are but then stop cheating... didn't you get to this point by cheating? the patriots have cheated since 2000-2001. it has been a whisper in the league. bellichick couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag in cleveland... now he's the mastermind of a dynasty? where there is smoke, there is fire.

the patriots benefited enough to win the biggest game three times on three late field goals....that's all the margin anyone ever really needs, now isn't it? now, you have "3 time superbowl champ"...and a bunch of all pro players taking PAYCUTS to be on the team. unheard of in the "me first" league. how do you get people who want to make the most money take a 30% paycut? guarantee a SB...and it is something bellichick feels comfortable telling them.

are they currently "spying" and using that info to pound the other teams...no. did they get the current roster because they had been spying, yes.

Because they are 10-0 and that makes you wonder if they are cheating. Once they lose the media will shut up.
