For Christmas I am making my boyfriend a double sided fleece blanket. I can only find the particular pattern I need online and I am not quite sure how much to order. The site says all prints are 60" wide. I would like to make a blanket large enough to fit over a full size bed. I was wondering if anyone could help me by suggesting how many yards of fleece I should buy.

Thanks!

the fabric is 60 inches wide which means it is 5 feet wide.

you need the length which most beds are 72 inches long or 6 feet long.

Most blankets are 82 or so inches long so order 7 yards one side, if you are tying this together, in double layer, order 14 yards.

Usual size for full is 80 x 96, so you would want to buy 14 yards in all.It will have to be pieced down the middle and then trimmed back to get the right size. Most of the tied fleece blankets are used as a throw, meaning it doesn't really cover the bed but instead is draped at the foot, or draped over the back of a couch or comfy chair.

A Queen size bed is 60" wide by 80" long. Your blanket will (at best) be a throw since fleece most often comes at 60" widths, making the actual blanket narrower due to the fringed edges. As to length, 80/36=2.22, so 2 1/4 yards per side would be needed for each blanket.

Measure the width and length of your bed and then add around 12 inches to each side just to be safe (depends if you want to tuck the blanket in or not and assuming this is a no tie blanket)
