First of all, you are unlikely to have to do this every day - maybe a couple of times per semester, depending upon your major.
Secondly, I have to tell you my own experience. When I was in college, I had to take a course in Public Speaking. I put it off until my senior year because it terrified me. When I finally had to give my first speech, I spent a lot of time preparing, but when it came time to start talking, I hyperventilated and stopped breathing altogether! I thought I was going to die in front of the class (I've later heard that many people faint when giving their first speech). Today I'm a college professor, and I have to speak in front of groups of my students, peers, and other audiences constantly. It still isn't my favorite thing to do, but I'm the only one who knows that.
What you should know is that even if you do screw up and people laugh, they are laughing in sympathy rather than in scorn. Think about how you feel when someone else gets up in front of you and gets nervous. You just really want them to make it, right? If they screw up, even if you laugh to try to keep it light, you feel really bad for them. Well, that's what others are thinking about you if you do the same. There may be a bully or two out there who wish you ill; they are the same ones who hope you fail every exam, and who cares about them?!!!
I would very strongly encourage you not to rethink going to college because of this. I know how intimidating it can be, believe me, but if you give up before you start, you are just biting off your own nose to spite your face. Sometimes you just need to feel the fear and do it anyway. You will surprise yourself with what you are capable of!

it fairly is great which you recognize what you desire to do. listed right here are a pair of issues to evaluate: a million. you won't desire to try this consistently. Having a level provide you ideas that may not there without a level. 2. whether you do desire to be a counselor consistently, it fairly is fairly helpful to do it someplace else in some unspecified time sooner or later -- and you won't have the skill to try this without a college degree. 3. you are able to finally be certain to bypass right into a supervisory place or to do greater stepped forward varieties of counseling. An MBA or a MS or PhD in psychology or in social paintings would desire to get you there -- and those does no longer be ideas for you in case you bypass away college. the common 25 year previous with a college degree makes $20K greater advantageous than the common 25 year previous without a level. the hollow widens as you become older. you're on a great course -- why close all those doors considering the fact which you think of there is an much less difficult thank you to do what you desire to do NOW?

Don't let something like that stop you from furthering your education. A college education is very important, it's almost the standard these days and soon people will be expecting more. It depends on what your major is and where you go, but many classes your first year are general ed classes and you won't have to go in front of the class. Also, many schools offer Public Speaking courses that help you grow to feel comfortable speaking in front of large groups. Check with your school to see if they offer it, or take it at a community college before you begin your studies.
Good luck, and don't back down!

i used to have EXTREME EXTREME ANXIETY about getting in front of class too but (as unbelievable as this might sound) after so many exposures you will get used to it like I did. Don't let something like this mess you up! Ater all what is more important: you avoiding speaking all of your life or getting a lot of money and being successful in your future career? Just remember if you do mess up it isnt the end of the world, as predicted you will be extremely embarassed. Always keep in mind before and during a speech that the audience always wants the person who is having speaking difficulties to succeed in their presentations so they are rooting for you! Good luck ;)

I graduated from college and only had two classes where I ever HAD to be vocal. I imagine it depends on your major but you shouldn't have to go in front of the classes often. Usually the teacher stands there and lectures and you take notes.
