It really depends on what you mean by Christmas.
Christmas is the day we traditionally celebrate the birth of Christ. The actual date of December 25th wasn't chosen until much later, though. No one knows the exact date for certain, and, let's face it, Dec. 25th is as good a day as any. The modern traditions that often are included in an American Christmas have just kind of developed over the generations, many of them derived from pagan traditions, superstitions, or legends.
To me, Christmas is the day or season during which we celebrate that God sent His Son to save us from our sins. It's also a good time to get together with family and friends for dinner/fellowship/etc. I give gifts to those important to my life, but I try (emphasis on TRY) not to let the whole gift-giving thing become to important or materialistic. It's also a good time to sing songs that would be extremely weird any other time of year! ;>

Jesus was born, except many say he wasn't born exactly on Christmas day, but we celebrate it then anyways. Throughout the years, the holiday lost its meaning and so many families base it on a fat guy in a suit, reindeer and presents. As a Christian, I find it a bit disturbing. If you're going to celebrate the holiday, you should have a good reason, right? X_x
For my family and I, we try not to get too wrapped up with the presents (that was a joke...harharhar ;)) and all of the fake stuff. We like to celebrate Advent at our church, and at Christmas time we read the story of Jesus being born together as a family. We also like to do the fun stuff, like presents and wrapping and decorating, but try to focus more on the real reason of the season, Jesus. ;)
Hope I was helpful.

For information, see:

Personally, I feel Christmas has been overtaken by shopping and forced sociability, so I try not to pay too much attention to the hoopla. It might be interesting to consider that in many Christian churches the Christmas season FOLLOWS the holiday/holy day, and that the period leading up to 12/25 is a penitential season called Advent. As they say on TV, have a good holiday.
