If it cuts down on cheaters, I'm all for it. I would not like to see those who legitimately need it put through the mill during this review, though.

The problem with all of these assessments is that everyone is different but you have to set the cut off point somewhere and every assessor is different . There will always be some people who get allowances and should not. some who are just working the system and some who should get help but can't. Of course it is a good thing to review the system as new ways of diagnosing and dealing with disabilities arise but those assessment problems are always going to exist

I'm a 100% for it and I'm totally disabled. I see people that can work and are drawing disability. If you can go deer hunting set up a tent cut fire wood, and stay at a bar all night you need to be assessed again.
I want to work and some were out there I know a job is waiting for me,
I feel ashamed to have to be on Medicaid and draw food stamps
If people really want to help give a few of us a chance

It disgusts me, the Disabled are an easy target so they abuse them. Ok I know there are scammers who will milk the system for all they can but I know the hardship and distress it caused me when I had to apply for it last year. I had 2 appeals and a Tribunal before I got mine. If the Doctors at the Hospital had done my knee when it first needed it then I would never have had to apply and neither would I be needing the other knee to be replaced. I would be back at work and there would be no problem for me, and I'm sure this is the case with a lot of people who like me want to work, but find them selves stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea and can't.

The Government created this problem by transferring people off unemployment benefit onto disability benefit so that they could claim that unemployment was going down, now they are going to try and get people off disability benefit and force them back to work, the trouble is a lot of deserving people will be penalised because of a few skivers.

Let's have a go at disabled people again time!
Cost is 12 billion in total payments per year at present!
Less than half of the 29 billion loaned to Northern Rock with no problem!
It's a loan which won't be returned & will have to be met by us!
Time we had a proper government if such a thing is possible?

On principal I agree with it but they also need to re- legislate employment law making it compulsory for employers over a certain size to employ disabled people. It's one thing to get them into the employment market and quite another to get them employed./ I do wish Hain would use his talents he has and dig up a couple of cricket pitches

I am with Lady G on this one. If there werent so many cheaters on it there would be a lot more funds for those who need it. We have one in town here who says he cant do anything and we have seen him carrying 100 pound bags of potatoes out of the field to his car. And riding his motorcycle all over when it is supposed to be a back injury, which came from driving drunk and crashing his car so it was his fault anyway.

If a person truly needs to be disabled, I can see it, but the people applying for it has probably at least tripled where I work. One guy was awarded disability for his back, but yet he was able to put a four foot rock wall around his property.Yes, it needs to be investigated about like all the people who have handicaps parking permits.

The Govt. tried this in the USA - it was called a Ticket to Work. However, for many of us, (and we really would like to work) this was not an option. This program lasted for 5 years and then last week, I got a letter stating that I was no longer eligible for the program!
