I am leaking like crazy with this pregnancy, my baby will be here in 2months and I was wondering if it would be safe to start pumping and freezing the milk? I know that you can store breast milk in the freezer for up to 3 months but I want to know if it is ok to be pumping now? I just am tired of leaking and think that this may help stop it or at least slow it down. Thank you.

No, nipple stimulation induces labor. Beyond that, causing your milk to regulate and be used means your hormones change, no only causing labor, but causing your baby to miss out on the colostrum it needs to survive.

Dont pump until baby is here.

No it would not be wise to do this. As the other women said before it can induce early labor because nipple stimulation releases oxcytocin, the bodies equivalent of pitocin which sends you into labor in the first place. Also I'm not sure that's milk yet. It should be colostrom which lasts for the first few days after your baby is born. You wouldn't want to freeze that. The leaking seems to get worse with each pregnancy. At least I found that in my experience. Just try using pads and be patient.

I think it is important for a child to have a relationship with their father and his side of the family, however, it has to be a two way street.. Being the mom you have to know what kind of environment that child is going into and who is there and the behaviour that occurs there. The fact that they wont meet you is enough to be concerned about. Just because parents are not together does not mean that families can not be together. I have a brother who has a daughter with my best friend and even though they are not together, she still comes to family gatherings and the whole family sees my niece and her mom. My brother doesn't like all the time but he understands that it is important. I think it is important for a child to see a family dynamic that works and that is maybe not loving all the time, but puts aside differences for the day ahead and makes it a fun day. Girl, you got a lot to deal with, but first and foremost that baby is #1! and if you ask me, your adoptive in laws need to get off their high horse and meet the mother of their granddaughter! It's also a safety thing what if they are babysitting and cant get a hold of her father and need tog et to you but cant because they have never met you. Grow up Grandparents and Daddy!!! Good luck with everything

You are producing colostrum right now, not milk. Colostrum is the "pre-milk" substance that the breasts produce while pregnant. Milk will come in a few days after the baby is born.

Do not pump during pregnancy, it's not advised. It can lead to pre-term labor.

NO NO NO do not pump your breast just wear breast pads.leaking is normal.but if you start pumping your stimulating your nipples which releases a chemical called oxitocin which can trigger labor and your 2 months off thats way to early.please dont do that it will cause harm.

i brought on my labor by doing this with my 3rd child, i was on my due date and had enough of being pregnant so i got out my breast pump and started pumping, it put me into labor, do not do this, you are not producing milk yet its colostrum and your baby needs this once he/she is born, putting it in the freezer will take away its affects. the more you use the milk the more it leaks also so this will not help you. breast pads and a supportive bra will help.

2 months is way too early. i know 2 women who started pumping at 38 weeks---but that is when the baby is fully developed and will live without major complications if born. try wearing a tight fited bra to reduce production and wear nursing pads inside the bra to catch any leaks. but do not pump at this stage of pregnancy.the baby does not have fully developed lungs and will have trouble breathing if your umping caused early delivery.that could lead to infections adn possible death.

No, it's not safe at all. Don't do it.

It could bring on contractions, and it could also bring in your milk prematurely, so if you think your leaking is bad now...

Do not. Do not. Do not.

Any nipple stimulation can cause very strong contractions. It would be a good idea if you were 39 or 40 weeks along. But as always you should as your caregiver before doing that.

Ummm I dont know about pumping putting women into labor...it sounds like an old wive's tale. You produce real milk AFTER you give birth.

But it definitely would be wise NOT to pump before you give birth. Just wear a comfortable bra and breast pads.

I know it's hell...lol But pain comes with the gift of motherhood.
