as we all know lie detector tests are in admissable in any court of law, so there would be no point in her taking one for legal reasons or as part of a defence in connection with her daughters death.
there for the only purpose to be served in here taking one would be to win public support, and when she spoke on T.V she failed the public lie detector test, she was given more than one oppertunity to show she was telling the truth and she failed every time.

It amazes me how people are so quick to point the finger at her parents. Since when was the british press a reliable, unbiased source of information? So far the facts are few and far between on this case - the only solid fact is that Madeline is missing and that should be the only thing that matters at the moment. Find the poor girl - whether she be alive or dead - and then find the people who did this and punish them severely. I haven't seen the police reports. I don't know the McCann's - therefore I can only assume that they are innocent until proven guilty. Perhaps rather than wasting time making possibly slanderous accusations regarding the childs parents - the press and the portugeuse police force should put their efforts into finding the 4 year old little girl who should now be in her 11th week of school and should be excited about father christmas coming - who instead may be lying dead or who is being held captive and possibly being abused.

I don't think anybody believes that he/she or both parents are murderers as such, but that some accident occured which they are in someway involved in, and are covering up the crime, with the help from the rest of the party.

People say that doctors would not do these things, but sadly you are very much mistaken. If you were a doctor and a colleague of yours made a medical error that could cause them to be struck off, you would then cover for them, and i believe, as has already been mentioned on here, that Gerry is helping another doctor in a medical negligence case, but i don't know whether it is one of the tapas doctors.

I think that Gerry had his sights on greater things and would probably have gone into politics or even worked for the nuclear power industry and had a much larger salary for doing so.

Of course this incident happened, and they then made the decision to cover up the crime for fear of loosing it all.

As a crime victim, the worst moment came when the police asked me to take a lie detector test. Bleeding from stab wounds and they want me to take a polygraph. Yeah, I refused, not because I had anything to hide - but frankly because I was ticked off.

Anyone accused or being investigated is just wrong to take one. They aren't accurate and just cause more questions than answers. Ask Richard Jewell, oh wait, we can't, he's died of a massive heart attack. You think stress had anything to do with it?

I don't know what the "public lie detector test" is that you say she failed, but the news as of today, November 19th 2007, is that she will not take a lie detector test.

If she was involved in her daughter's death, she will fail the test, so it is in her best interest not to risk taking it. As far as her daughter's best interest, I hope the authorities can solve the puzzle.

yeah id love to know whats going on there. I just cant believe she would kill her own daughter. I read in the newspaper that clumps of maddys hair was found in the boot of the car and blood in the back seat. I cant understand how clumps of hair would be in the boot of the car, thats just sick. both parents are doctors, I cant believe how they could have done such a thing but its begining to look like it.

They left her in a strange hotel room at night like, I wouldnt step outside my front door if I had a kid asleep in the house. I dont have any sympathy for kate or gerry
