I think it takes a lot of modeling and a long time to become a Victoria's Secret model. You mainly have to build a portfolio and work your way up. They're highly paid models, so they probably get a few million a year.

It's very hard to become a model let alone a Victoria's Secret model. These women have been modeling since they were young girls & a lot of them are foreign too (I think VS is into that). They all started out as regular runway/print models most likely. If you are interested in being a model you need to start out at the bottom & work your way up. It's taken these women years & years, probably even a century to be a VS model. And most likely, they were discovered at a fashion show, they probably didn't try out or audition for the part like most models. Get a portfolio together & have an agency sign you.

It was reported that Gisele (top VS Angel) was getting 5 million a year before she broke her contract in May of this year. I have heard new Angels get anywhere from 1 to 2 million a year when they are promoted to “Angel Status”.

I was never impressed with Victoria's Secret models. I always thought they were disgustingly too thin and even more so when I saw a Victoria's Secret commercial the first week or two after having my baby nine weeks ago. I'm six feet tall and wouldn't want to look that skinny. Also, during the first two weeks (when I was recouping) I read my October issue of "Parents" magazine that has an article on Hollywood women and their quick post-baby weight loss. It says that Hiedi Klum was doing a runway show two months post baby. From the magazine, "Lkum confessed she was under cotract to lose her post-pregnancy weight in just one month! Reportedly, her $25 million deal with Victoria's seret bans her from 'altering her image'". Yuck. There is not enough money in the world that would convince me to constantly look "perfect" or for me to have a career where I essentially sell my body. I'm "only" six pounds heavier than what I want to be. At the start of my pregnancy I was 170, a good healthy weight. I was happy. I only gained 34 pounds (by my seventh month I joked that I might make it to 200). Now I want to keep five pounds on for breast feeding.

However, this is just me. I'm happy with who I am and what I look like. Sure, I can just barely squeeze into my size 14 jeans, with the "shaping" underwear, but so what. My goal is to at least comfortably fit into my favorite jeans which are a size 12. (By the way, 12 is considered "plus size" in the modeling world. Yuck.)

However, to each their own. (I also refuse to shop at VS, but that's a bit of a different discussion with other reasons that are not related to this discussion.)
