That Marilyn Monroe was the first woman to leave Hollywood at the peak of her career to start her own production company and produce her own films? She was the only woman to challenge a major studio during a time of artistic repression for women, and for a sex symbol this was quite exceptional. I have noticed on this site that many people are unknowledgeable regarding Marilyn so I thought it would be interesting for many of you to know.

Lucille Ball did it before Marilyn, and didn't require nearly as much coddling either (Marilyn's business partner had to pay her rent).
