Scotch and pot barley are most nutritious because they have been milled less but pearl barley is tasty too.
wash in running water in a colander 1 cup barley place in saucepan and add 3 cups water bring to boil and simmer cooking time 1 hour 15-20 minutes. will yield 3 1/2 cups of barley-
It can be added to any soup to give it body.

I love to throw it in with Beef stew or maybe a soup. Like said all I do is throw it in and let it cook with whatever I am preparing. I made Wedding Soup from scratch and put Barley in with it. All out and got to get some more.

3 times a week. i take one cup barley,2 cups boiling water,2 tblsp. of lemon juice,salt & pepper to taste.mix all in bowl,let stand for 2 hours in fridge,remove,fluff with fork,there ya have it,a great "barley"type salad ! tah dah !

My dad eats barley each day, he buys Barley Green and mixes it with juice for breakfast, its good to clean out your system. try it as a breakfast juice!

I eat probably once a day (a full meal) Breakfast makes my stomach hurts, and I rarely eat lunch. I eat out a lot...I do cook. I fry and bake my food, depending on what I am cooking. Sometime I microwave it if I need something on the go...
