I am assuming you are asking this.
Oil does 5 things.
1. Cooling
2. Preserving
3. Sealing
4. Lubricates
5. Cushion
But, you question ask for uses... I can say to the only use that I know is that is used by engines. Electrical, Diesel, Gasoline, Steam, Gas Turbines, Stirling or any other type of engine that requires that oil. Beside that, I do not know any other uses for it.
