If it was my baby that wouldn't stop crying, I'd leave the restaurant and certainly not wait to be kicked out. The other people there have a right to the pleasant relaxing meal they paid for and it's not fair for one family to spoil everyone else's meal.

If it is in my home and the baby is otherwise OK (ie nappy dry & clean, not teething, no pins stuck in him/her etc) I would be happy to let them cry. Otherwise they learn that 'hey, if I cry I will always get picked up.'

In a public situation especially where people have paid money to sit and relax you need to take it into context. Here I would try most things to get the little one to stop crying. If bubs wouldn't settle you would have to think about taking them outside at least.

We used to give our babies (we had four) in the pram for afternoon sleeps so that it was more familiar when we went out.

Most times I do believe that the general public need to be much more tolerant of crying babies but I can understand the restaurant owners/manager's reasoning of remove one rather than everyone else leaving.

Having small children often means you don't get to have a social life exactly how you planned it. We spent ages getting all six of us ready to go to a big birthday party and ended up leaving about half an hour later as one of the children was throwing up.

I have been out to eat with my hubby and daughter when she has started to get fussy. I always have several toys and foods. If she were to start to cry I'd take her to the bathroom and hide, while trying to calm her down. I'd give that a few minutes. If it wasn't working or she started up again we'd have to get our food to go and leave. I was embarrassed when she was fussy and could only imagine how I'd be if she were screaming. I think in order to try to prevent this you need to come prepared (foods, diapers, infant tylenol, oragel, toys) and make sure the child has had a good nap during the day so they aren't tired.

Look what you should do is that you should make sure you put the baby asleep and then leave it in the carriage as you are eating. If your mom still doesn't agree then go to McDonalds or someplace where you could eat and at the same time your kids could play.Don't go to a quiet restaurant and the baby feels bored. That's why it cries.

I think that if your child is crying then one parent goes outside with the child - or at the very least to the bathroom to try to calm the child down and give it another try. If they don't stop then it's time to ask for your food to go and have one parent go get the child in the car while the other waits for the food or cancels the order and leaves a good tip.

i'd probable in basic terms go away. i'm a determine and if my childrens were crying, i'd have tried consoling the child or notwithstanding. If human beings are not thoughtful to provide convenience to a crying infant, i'd in basic terms go away. those kind of confrontations in a lot of circumstances make me disillusioned besides. ?? L

We just had this problem on Friday with our grandson. My husband carried him around the restaurant a bit, and if he still fussed, they went outside. Then we all ate fast and got out of there to avoid annoying other people.

You shouldn't be taking a BABY into a restaurant in the FIRST place... in every country but AmeriKa, people wouldn't THINK of dragging their crying brats into a nice restaurant... but in breeder AmeriKa, those empty minded breeder parents see nothing wrong with taking their smelly, crying brats into a restaurant and annoying the other patrons who left THEIR brats at HOME.

I haven't had a crying baby in my home in 40 years and I don't like HEARING or SMELLING a crying baby now... I've done my share and I like to dine in peace.

I would have taken the baby out myself. Would never let my kids upset everyone else. Not their responsibility and i am sure they did not come there to listen to my kid cry.

when your baby is an annonance it is equal to a rude or unruly customer. You might be used to your baby cries however the staff and patrons are not. Your baby or child should not be expected to eat at a restraunt until they are mature enough to handle.
