In my opinion, it would be bad because:
1. In countries with universal health care, the taxes are EXTREMELY high. For example, in Germany, the VAT tax (basically a sales tax) is 19%. Ouch.
2. Take a look at military hospitals and VA hospitals, and you'll be getting a glimpse at what ALL hospitals would look like if they were controlled by the government.
3. Get treated by a military doctor sometime, and tell me how you like it. Again, government-controlled.
It breaks my heart that so many people are without medical insurance, it really does. My own mother is one of them, and so is my sister, and all five of her kids. But going to a universal health care system just won't work, in my humble opinion.
We need to figure out something else.

i think it would be good for us to have it as long as politicians aren't allowed to ruin it. they have a tendency to do the bidding of corporations instead of the people. after all we are at war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. and just when we need to gear up for a fight with our real enemies we are short on troops and supplies. nixon is the one that approved kaiser's plan to introduce health insurance and then reduce benefits and increase the price. government health care is working in many other countries. the crap the insurance and drug companies put out the last time we tried to get this done has been proven wrong. there aren't waiting rooms filled with people waiting for hours in those countries but they are waiting for hours here. canada has a wait time of mostly 15 minutes, sometimes an hour. we have wait times of over 18 hours. even when people have insurance they get turned away because they won't cover the cost at some other hospital.
in the US we pay 35% in taxes, Germany has it easy in taxes and the health care is better over there and the other countries that have it. we are ranked at 67th, just over slovenia, in health care.
jennifer tell that to the people that were murdered by US merceneries. one more thing al queda wasn't there until we invaded. the iraqis don't want them there for their own reasons. they will hunt them down as soon as we get out of their way. bush is protecting osama.

No one knows.
Those who propose Universal Health Care in America
Have so far, failed to provide basic information about it.
They keep saying we need it, but when ask specific questions, they are at a lose to answer.
Such as :
How much it would cost ?
How would it be funded?
Who would control it ?
Who would make decisions on whats covered?
I have yet to see any universal health care proponent, be able to answer any of those questions.

I'll let Ronald Reagan handle this one; "The nine scariest words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help'". Oh, and Barbara we are not at war WITH Iraq, we are fighting a war against terror groups on Iraqi soil.
