Definately an outdated habit. The child has no freedom or self expression. Personally, I think the child has the right to choose clothes that flatter their shape, and that look good on them. And all judging is not about clothes. Some kids will hate others all the time, without a reason, that's just how life is.

i think of uniforms are an previous habit for the main area. uniforms in severe college exceedingly; severe college is a time the place youngsters test their outer transformations and appearances. uniforms limit that and can have a pupil rebelling against the gown code because they have not any freedom of clothing. uniforms in decrease grades, i do no longer suggestions; youthful youngsters want greater self-discipline and can be tamed greater efficient whilst all looking, dressing the comparable. it may additionally decrease down on bullying because all of them have the comparable uniform. this might artwork for top college too, different than that each and every of the older youngsters understand each and every others' faults with out wanting clothing to conceal it up.

Very good tradition, saves competition, and also embarrassment of those students who either don't have the money to buy expensive brands or whose parents refuse to waste money on them :)
Also saves problems with kids wearing inappropriate clothes to school. If it's required that they always wear sensible shoes, for instance, a teacher can take the class on a nature walk without worrying about whether they've all got shoes suitable to walk on uneven ground in.
Some uniforms are downright silly. I would object to, for instance, having to buy a very expensive straw hat for my child to wear for five seconds every day between the front door and the school gate. But uniforms designed to be comfortable and suitable for school are an excellent idea. My daughter wears a navy polo shirt, a navy skirt or trousers, a navy sweatshirt with the school logo on, and sensible black shoes. Dead easy to wear and wash, not expensive, suits everyone.

What about neither one? Some of us never liked them, unless they are good uniforms. Why not present the uniform options and have students vote?

it is a good tradition that prevents students from being picked on because their parents will not buy or can not afford the latest designer or brand names...it allows kids to ignore physical differences in terms of appearance...it creates a somewhat level playing field for students socially...
