They're OK. I can hear the sound of the engine and the wind as we pass any roughness in the walls. That sounds a bit creepy. I've only been in mountain tunnels, and I'd rather take a tunnel than have to go up the mountain on curvy roads.

Well, I have never had a bad experience with one, but I can see how people can get claustrophobia. I can't imagine traveling through the tunnel from England to France, though. That has to be the longest one in the world!

...years ago I had to go through the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel/Bridge (I think about 13 miles long)...over the ocean, then under it and so on...the water was dripping down the walls of the tunnel...I thought I'd go mad before I got the the end...never again
