I don't like to compare different teams from different eras, it's not a fair comparison, the rules were different, the salary cap is a recent addition and if they lose in the playoffs, today won't matter at all. Are they the best team this season? Right now, absolutely. I still think a Green Bay New England Superbowl would be pretty entertaining.

At this time they are not the best team ever , they are the best team so far this season , if they do all the things people and the media think they might ,like go 16-0 and Brady passes Mannings TD record ....they are on pace to shatter some records . score more points then any other team has in a season ....at this time they are not the best team ever if they finish the season 14-2 they could go down as 1 of the best teams ever
Please ask this question again at a future date

maximum suitable NFL group EVER???? Wow, talk approximately an overstatement. So enable's see...My boy Barry Bonds is over there breaking information, yet, a majority of persons would extremely prefer to throw an Asterisk(*) next to any of his information.... Now i say, inspite of in spite of if the Pats flow to/win the superbowl, any record broken this season could be branded by applying an ASTERISK(*). They cheated and have been given caught. Their total season could be void and invalid. And no, i'm no longer asserting this cuz my group is the worst interior the NFL, and ensue to hold the record that became "broken". Or for decision of extra applicable words "TAINTED". If Barry Bond's record placing occupation is TAINTED, than so shall the Patriots' final 4 seasons.... it is worried with advertising and money anyhow

I'll concede that they make a very strong case for it. But I am always reluctant to say that any team or any player or coach is the best at anything in any sport. Even if they play in Philly. It pays no respect to the great teams of the past, and given the fact that the players, rules, and conditions have continually changed since the 1930's it is difficult to make a fair comparison.
But, they are tearing up the league right now.

Once this season is over, the 2007 Patriots will have torched every major single season record in the NFL.
They will have achieved a perfect season of 16-0 and 3-0 in postseason, finally eclipsing the 72' Dolphins.
A few people might make a case for the 85' Bears.....don't kid yourselves.....the 1985 Bears would be DESTROYED by this team, it wouldn't even be close, something along the lines of 44-14.
EDIT: WOW Taylor....and you call yourself "a fan of the Pats." A fan should know at least a LITTLE about their team.

They are not even close... you appear to be foolish. They are also running up the score on their opponents.
85 Bears are the greatest team ever and the Patriots would not mess with them.

I think if you have to name a best ever and really, that's pretty ridiculous, then the Cleveland Browns of the 50's would be it. I beleive (correct em if I'm wrong) that it was 7 championships in 9 years

If they FTJ (Finish The Job) and go 19-0, finish 1st in both off and def, you have to acknowledge them as best team ever.
