Provided the caravan (including contents) is within the car's stated maximum towing weight, and the total weight of car and caravan (including passengers and contents) is within the car's stated maximum gross train weight (both are stated by the manufacturer, and will be listed in the handbook, and possibly on the VIN plate/sticker) then you will be OK.

If you are unsure, ask your caravan dealer to check your car/caravan combination on the Towsafe website.

Given the choice, I'd tow with an auto, preferably a big Diesel. A manual can wear its clutch quite quickly towing.
Might be a good idea to have a separate oil cooler fitted to the gearbox if you're planning to do a lot of towing with it, this will help keep the transmission fluid cool when you're going uphill, or when the weather's hot.

You will be ok with an auto, provided it's got a decent sized engine (at least 2.0ltr), I would prefer to use an auto over manual as the box does whats best for the car and road speed, I would however check if your car has a transmission oil cooler, they're quite often built-in to the car radiator,if it hasn't, I would only tow for a short distance.

Auto is a little more risky as an auto box is much weaker than a manual. The chances of blowing a seal in an automatic are far greater than that of shearing a cog in a manual.

It's fine, I did it for years, with no problems. Make sure the car's powerful enough, but that applies to a manual car anyway.

One tip - hold the gears manually when accelerating, to keep the gearbox oil pressure up. That'll keep the clutches firmly engaged.

Automatic Transmission if is not a 4WD OR AWD. it should be good so if its 4WD you need to two on all wheel on the ground so you won't damage the rear Transmission and if you want to tow a manual you have to put it on Neutral the same with the AT too. good luck and make sure you tide it good.

Yes it is OK...but I think manual is better....the auto transmission is forever changing gear unless you hold it in a specified gear.....Manual transmission gives you more flexibility
