When I think ive forgotten something i use a technique which works for me everytime. So maybe this will work for you?
Just simply sit down and run through your mind everything you did and who you have spoken to today or yesterday. As you do this you normally come across the thing which it is that you have forgotten.
Its not thats its actually forgotten its just that something took over to replace this action at some point, and its laying in the back of your mind waiting to be retrieved.
