I have a 2002 X5. While playing a cd, it suddenly stopped and NO DISCS displayed on my screen. ANy one know how to resolve this problem???? I already tried cleaning the magazine and cd's ,but still does'nt function.

CD changer malfunctions are not uncommon. Usually it's mechanical. If you know a friend who's handy with electronics, he can look at it for you and probably figure out what's really wrong.

Check for simple things like cable connection behind the changer. Unplug and replug it to ensure good connection. If that doesn't solve the problem, observe the CD chager's operation when you insert the CD magazine.... listen out for anything abnormal... like jamming, gear grinding noise...etc.

If you need a new CD changer, a more affordable way might be the USA SPEC model that plugs straight into your factory plug (see link).

or... you may choose to upgrade your head unit altogether to an aftermarket model with more features (mp3, wma...etc) for less money. Look at crutchfield.com for options.

ok. seem below the cd changer and you will stumble on a plug. Disconnect it for 5 seconds and then attempt returned. We had same difficulty and have been given this tip from bm broker. labored for us.
