Alright! I don't drink alcohol so I can't indulge in that sanctuary, but I am about to try and read a few pages in my book then I will turn out the lights and think of.. my favorite TV show. Sometimes at night, I softly sing songs I know all the words too and I fall asleep. Anyone else tried this? Thanks guys!

Sleeping pill!!! Well I use that only when desperate times call for desperate measures. Other wise I just read a book until I fall asleep. Don't work out/exercise anytime within 3 hours of going to sleep.

There are many simple and also interesting ways to fall asleep. However, it depends on what kind of state you are in right now. We don't know that because we don't know you, what you're going through and what your life is like! Still, here are my tips.

- make your bedroom pitch black and dark and play some continuous relaxing, soothing music

- drink some hot milk

- go to bed wearing those eye masks

- masturbate, as the chemicals released and reaction afterwards causes one to be relaxed and fall asleep

- try sleeping on your sofa or the tv room

- meditate, pray or do yoga

- while in bed, read a book

I hope this helps you!

I have the identical designated concern.... Statistics exhibit that if you are for your mobilephone or looking television as much as an hour earlier than you try to fall asleep, you can have disorders falling asleep, so submit your mobilephone, television off, something else that's stimulating your brain.. And simply suppose approximately some thing stress-free, and even depend as prime as you'll to your head till you go to sleep, is helping with me many times..

Hi,
You are having Insomnia.
Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep, or remain asleep through the night resulting in a feeling of fatigue and tiredness through the day.

To get good sleep Pl. remove the cause first.

Sleeplessness can be caused due to a variety of reasons. These may vary from disturbance due to external noise to specific sleep disorders.

External noise or bright light that hinders sleep

Excessive intake of caffeine containing beverages like coffee and tea

Excessive consumption of alcohol

Stress, anxiety and depression

Certain severe and long-lasting illnesses like prostatitis, cystitis, arthritis etc.

Chronic pain

Side effects of certain drugs used to treat hormonal imbalance, or stimulate the nervous system

Abrupt stoppage of previous medications or introductions of new ones

Shift in place of residence or work

Jet lag

“Catnaps” or sleeping during the day

Heavy exercise just before going to sleep

A state of excitement hampers sleep

Indigestion or other stomach ailments

In children, sleeplessness can be caused due to a desire for parental attention, stomach ache, hunger, worms or teething.

After removing the cause. Pl. take following treatment

The best way to prevent insomnia is to develop good sleeping habits. A routine should be maintained of going to sleep and getting up at the same time everyday. This helps set a body clock for a predictable sleep schedule. Regular exercise is important for a healthy body, but it should not be done within 2 hours of bedtime. Beverages containing caffeine should be limited. A light snack of milk or meat can be taken just before bedtime. These foods have a natural sleep inducer which helps to bring on sleep.

Should not force yourself to sleep. Leisure activities like reading or listening to soft music at bedtime help to relax. A comfortable bedroom temperature should be maintained. The surroundings should be conducive to sleeping; they should be away from loud noises or any other disturbing stimuli.

Certain medications like diazepam may be prescribed to treat the disorder which basically calm the nerves and help a person relax so as to be able to sleep easily. But these drugs are prescribed only as a last resort, since some of them may have side effects that may compound the problem.

Enjoy Life

You may have a sleeping disorder. That needs treating by your doctor. He/she may give you something to help you sleep.

But in my opion if you are given something to help you sleep try going without it best you can first.

I am always busy during the day doing things, in spite of the fact I'm blind in my left eye and get lots of pain with my eyes.

I was prescribed Pregablin by my doctor, but even though I need to take medication, I try not to rely on it too much.

Besides, although it takes away much of the pain, it often speeds me up, that I canot sleep either, and feel spaced out, kind of drunk feeling.

Also noticed when I had a cold and sneezed, my "slight rhumatic pains" were increased at least 10 times over.

So sometimes sleeping is also a problem for me too.

I feel that difficulty sleeping can be a medical thing that needs medication to help. But it can also be a psychological thing.

Maybe you have too many things on your mind that is keeping you awake.

I find that instead of dreaming I sometimes think in my sleep and are working things out for the next day, and already before I get up, have it all planned out.

Adulph Hitler, had a serious sleeping disorder. In fact he was once quoted as saying "I do things with the certainity of a sleep walker."

But he did not know how close he had come to the truth about himself, because if you should look at some of the decisions he had made, you would thing he did them whilst asleep, which he probably did.

At one point for example: he seemed to have the British in check, (even by his navy) then for no aparent or logical reason ordered a change around, and sent his men to go and fight the Russians.

So anyone with a sleeping disorder as I mentioned earlier need to go and talk to their doctor about it.

Most of the time, however, I sleep like a door-mouse. As sweetly as can be.

(I dreampt last night I was propsed to by a nice girl I used to know, who lived in same village as I used to live, and forgetting I was in love with another, said yes, to being married the next day).

This is probably because I have learnt how to live happily.

Even when it comes down to simple thigs, such as: I teach guitar, but week before last when my student did not show up or ring to say what the delay was, I give him half hour to show up, still he did not show up, so I then went off to do something else.

Same if someone rings me and asks if I could hold the line for 5 minutes because they have just this second had an important call and are very busy. I reply, so am I, call me back when your not so busy.

Although, I do not live excessively tidy, I do know where everything is, and I try to keep my office desk neat and tidy these type things all help make life easier.

So that when you go to bed, you are not worrying about things and can drift nicely off to sleep.

Hope this will be of some help, and you have not drifted off already, did not mean it to be - so long!

Eh. Usually I've had terrible trouble sleeping lately. What I do is put on my earphones, put something on my ipod that is slow and calming, and I turn off the lights... lie down in bed and try to feel relaxed and listen to music until I fall asleep.
