in june 2007 my TSH 20 then i took thyroid medicine 50mg after taking two months it comes to 3.8 uiU/mL but then again after three month my report says my TSH level is 6.61 uIU/mL, i have been trying to conceive from last years but not get the desired results, and is it possible even after taking medicine level can goes up?

If you are taking just synthetic T4, request to either be switched to Armour thyroid (80% T4, 20% T3) or a mixture of Armour thyroid and synthroid to get a ratio that is 98% T4 and 2% T3.

If taking T4 only, you may have a conversion problem (T4 to T3). You should ask your doctor to monitor your free T4 and Free T3, possibly reverse T3 to get a better idea of what is going on.

The TSH constantly is changing, so it can be different if you test in the morning and then again in the afternoon. Because of this, you always want to test TSH first thing in the morning with a goal of getting the TSH around 1.0. Better thyroid tests are the free t4 and free t3. The free t3 test will tell if you are converting enough T4 into T3. If you aren't, then a switch to a T4/T3 med like Armour, Naturethroid, or Thyrolar is in order.
