If your car has a carburettor then you should expect it to require accelerator pushing to start when cold (fuel injected cars don't) and if it's been off for a while it's probably cold.

Air fuel ratio might need attention as well as clean plugs and timing - see a mechanic

You might need the FUEL FILTER checked/replaced! it can be old and clogging up..
