After I shutdown my computer, there still remains power in the mouse and other USB connected device (having no external power source) i.e the light on the devices remain on.

What might the problem be and how do i resolve it.

Thank you.

Try pressing spacebar and see if that turns the computer on.

It's a feature that allows the computer to be turned on by pressing spacebar (and modern computers with ATX power supplies don't really turn off when you shut down since there is standby power going to the computer all the time unless you unplug it or flip the switch on the back of the case.

You could 'resolve' the problem by turning the power board off or reaching around the back of your computer each time you shut it down (and then having to undo it when you want to use it) but that is unwise as the CMOS settings and system clock will then draw power from the CMOS battery instead of the wall resulting in the CMOS battery being discharged faster.

Changing the BIOS settings to not start on key press or mouse move should cause it not to power USB devices while it is shutdown though (since it'll only be powering the USB devices to ensure it can receive key presses).

thats not really a problem, its the wonder of the atx power supply.
if it really bothers you wasting that 1V of electricity, turn off the power bar to your computer that should remove power to everything there... if they stay on with no power to the computer (not just the computer powering off) then you have a magical computer that creates its own power and i reccomend hiding it from the government.

*just kidding but seriously, theres nothing wrong with the computer.
