I don't mean with your own friends and faily, i jsut mean in social situations with strangers. You know the sort, even when the cinema is empty they choose to sit in the row in front of you. I always sit as far away from others as possible, but some people just seem to crave being part of the group.

I don't mean to seem annoying answering your questions but they are interesting.

Lol I can just imagine someone sitting down right in front of me!I understand what you mean it's like there is so much space but someone will sort of sit really close or near e.g on the bus there is so much space yet someone will chose to sit right behind me,sometimes I move mainly if I pick up something suspicious.I think some people just like to talk and even if they have nothing to say, they feel they want to be around people so they can, with me I don't mind i will keep to myself but still be friendly if this is the situation I don't like to feel like Iam 'begging' or need to be around someone.

I also think sometimes people love drama and like being close to others who they don't know because if something were to happen or they just feel like a gossip, they have someone there.

Some people are so lonely, they go to a cinema or a coffee shop,a bar and all they want is a few kind words, a smile, someone to pass the time of day with them before they go back to their lonely homes and lonely existance. What is the cost to us to smile, to exchange greetings, to make someone feel special, you never know, that person could become the best friend you have always wanted and never found.

Everyone is differnt. Some people feel safer around others and feel more comfortable when they have someone to follow. Other people like to be independent and like to do there own thing. Some people are called needy and others antisocial. It can be fusturating but you just have to work at accepting and working with people as they are.

People are sheep. Most will sit near other people just because that's where everyone else is sitting. However, I'm like you I'd pick a seat away from the people already there.

The seat someone chooses in a cinema does not indicate whether they are needy or not. Maybe you picked the best position and os have they. Needing to sit well away from other people suggests more issues.

Maybe they are insecure about being on their own? I used to know somebody like this...she was loud and brash and made out she was very confident, but in reality she ws petrified of being on her own and could do nothing for herself. She clung to other people all the time and even latched onto strangers much to their disgust! She was on holiday with me one time and as i didnt want to go drinking that night ( funny tummy ) she latched onto honeymooners!!! OH DEAR!

Herd instinct.

It's the also the basis of all fashions - the need to conform and belong to a group or tribe.

We like to think of ourselves as individuals but in reality it's surprising just how 'unadvanced' we really are!

Cavorim,You sound like you are one of these people. I prefer to sit by myself too, obviously i will sit with mates but it iritates me if 'needy' types sit nearby. YOU are clearly the one with issues. Not me and Caspar who prefer not to be surrounded by popcorn guzzling morons like you.

And? Why is that any of your business? Worrying about other people do does not make you feel any better. The reason people do that is because that is them. Everybody is different in each of their own and personally, I think you need to respect that.
