Strange things happen at my house. When I am near lights, they stop working right when I need them to come on,I sometimes wakeup with weird scratches on me, all of my family hears weird things in the house, have seen things move etc... Really odd stuff. There are 2 teenages in the house, maybe a poltergeist? We've talked to alot of people who moved from our town because their house was haunted, what do you think?
Please, this is a serious question, no sarcastic/rude answers....

Also television sets and radios will come on and off randomly.we especially have a radio in our sunroom, the volume goes up and down all day. Lost of cold spots also, especially in a certain part of our living room where you feel really uncomfortable in. And sometimes it feels like somene is tugging on your clothes, or poking you, my mother specifically feels it on her side.

How often do you pray?
Religion does not matter as long as you pray.

Sounds like you are describing a poltergeist. Religious people would say you would need an exorcism, wiccans would probably have you try and clean the house or close the doorway that is open somewhere in the house. If the whole town is haunted there may be a focal point that no one is aware of.
If you want to rule out scientific explanations - radon detector, carbon monoxide detector, check for black mold in the house.
Is the town over an active earthquake zone? If so that energy could possibly be stirring up the activity.
Another point could be that you and your family are mildly psychic, and you can cause these things to occur unknowingly.
You can stop the activity by just ignoring it.
My mother belived in santeria and used to roll a coconut around the house whenever she felt negative energy, the feeling was that the energy would get trapped in the coconut and you had to take it to a desolate place and throw the coconut in such a way that it would break and release the negative energy far from your home - I don't think that ever worked.

First things first. I believe that almost all things have a rational, scientific explanation, so let's go over everything. Before I go on, let me say that while I believe that there are many things my profession cannot explain, science strongly tells me that ghosts do not exist, so forgive me if I sound skeptical.
1. Timeline: When did you move into the house? If you just got there, it might be things you're not used to. If you've lived there a long time and all this started suddenly at once, then maybe there's something weird.
2. Electronics: Are they old? How often does this happen? Can you do some rudimentary experiments and pinpoint any cause-and-effects? Do you live near an antennae or something that might cause interference? Power surges that might turn things on and off?
3. Cold spots: Have you checked for leaks in the insulation? Is it near a window? Winter's coming so maybe you're just feeling cool air sneak in?
4. Tugging/poking: Everyone feels it or just one person? Have those who feel it had a medical exam for a nervous or skin disorder? Such disorders are common.
These are just four logical tests I can think of. You can try to think of more. If after all this you haven't found anything that makes sense, then, well, I still don't really believe in ghosts but you might want to check with paranormal experts. (I personally think they're full of baloney but hey, they might be on to something and you have nothing to lose, really.) Good luck.

I would note which lights do this more often than others. Do they all do this or only certain ones? Scratching oneself in sleep is not uncommon (small light scratches not gashes) and you can easily test this by wearing gloves to bed and see if the scratches go away. Have you heard weird sounds or seen things move when everyone else was out of the house or everyone was under your direct observation?
You might wish to keep a notebook of all the unusual events and include as much information as possible (time, date, exact location, who was present, etc.) Poltergeist activity usually centers around one person.
I would replace the radio in the sun room and see if a new radio has the same problem.
You might also consider investing in surge protectors.
If after replacing lights (those that are most effected) and the radio if that doesn't solve the problem I would have the wiring in the house examined by an electrician.
Where the cold spots are located I would measure with a thermometer rather than just trust a subjective feeling like chills.
One has to first eliminate the normal before attempting to deal with the paranormal.
Poltergeist activity (both faked and unexplained) is thought by most parapsychologist to arrive from unresolved and/or unexpressed emotional conflict (which is why teenagers are often associated with this activity) and counseling very often causes activity to cease. Also, poltergeist activity rarely last more than 2 months.

Hi,
Well, given the information you've provided, I'm not convinced that there is anything paranormal going on here. First, we need to rule out the more likely explanations, and at that point we can wonder about the paranormal. However, that still doesn't mean that there isn't a natural explanation that we've overlooked.
In regards to lightbulbs, these are just notoriously unpredictable. Several reasons -- the light bulb could be going bad (screw base has come loose), or the socket could be bad, or repeated heating-cooling cycles and the resulting thermal expansion has loosened the bulb. Regarding scratches on the face, it is impossible to rule out you scratching yourself during your sleep, especially if you wear rings or have even slightly long nails. Regarding television and radios turning on/off or going up in volume -- I'd first rule out built-in timers and stray IR signals. After that, I'd have a serious talk with your two teenagers about pulling pranks.
Cold/hot spots are not uncommon in houses with forced air heating, and pulling or tugging can also be explained by imagination, power of suggestion and/or muscle spasms.
So, before you jump on the paranormal bandwagon, my suggestion is to start your own investigation and see how many things you can explain. You might find you can explain it all if you entertain the notion, at least for the sake of argument, that your experiences have natural causes. Good luck.

It definitely sounds like a poltergeist.. is it though? I don't know. Do you have any pets? Cats and dogs will sometimes react oddly in a house with paranormal activity, I say this from experience.
Oh yes and do be careful. Get professional help if necessary. Don't do anything on your own to try and get rid of the presence because you could only provoke and make the activity become worse.

hi...you really did'nt give enough specifics on the house except for what was happening. How long have you lived there?how old is the house.....?have you done any new renovations?my suggestion to you is,so some research on the house an land, even the tenants that have lived there before you.some times people do things behind closed doors that leave residue of negativity. talk or check out your local land office and library.there are plenty of paranormal groups around that could help. also keep a journal.an if possible a recorder ,and camera handy for more validation. never provoke or antagonize any thing you might think is causing friction anyhow...you'd just make things worst. and if your religious talk to your clergy...keep us posted....blessed be

The house where you live, was it built on old burial grounds?
I also have lived in a house where strange things happened, we had a poltergeist that loved clothes pins, they would go missing all the time, we would find them in the oddest places, sometimes on the top of doors, so they would fall on us when we closed the door, we also had lots of odd things happened, cold spots, smells, touches and feelings of being watched, lots of other things as well, l do believe you and know how scared you must feel at times, please pray, pray and pray again, ask God to stop these things, walk around your house, blessing each room and ask the spirits to move on, tell them you are living here now and you wish to be left in peace, tell them to go into the white light of Jesus.
Good luck my friend, prayers and blessings are being sent your way right now.

Yep, it's polar guys all right, or.....
I am willing to bet this is a good case of confirmation bias (aka selective memory). I bet these things are unrelated. You appear to be seeking reasons to think this is paranormal rather than exploring natural solutions. Stick with the real world and you'll find all the answers you need.

I think you should bring in a pastor from your local church to examine if your house is haunted or not. He might hire an ghost buster for you, free.
