Save first before spending. If you are open to where you work and live you don't need a car. A car will take a large chunk of your money to buy and a larger chunk to run. Skipping owning a car will save you payments, gas and insurance. Even owning a cheap car out right is thousands a year.
Ask your employer if you can direct deposit your pay then have part sent to savings and don't touch it. Even if you can only afford to save 10 a week that is 520 a year and when you get a raise you can increase it to 20 and be saving over a thousand a year. That is better than many people and will pay for a car repair a year maybe or for retirement or to buy a house or have babies. You have to believe saving money matters you can work 45 years or more and end up with nothing to show for it.
When you grow up and have an apartment, full time work and adult responsibilities you will start to want more like a house, marriage, children, college for kids, retirement before you are elderly and without savings that stuff doesn't happen or you live in poverty if you have children.

well the first thing is discipline. how much do you work your job? work more hours or get another job. I worked a full time job and part time job (2-3 nights a week) for 6 1/2 years. I only quit because i'm overseas. next, you must decide what is want, and what is need. If you have to get to work and your car needs new tires, then you'll NEED to get new tires. However, you don't need a new stereo in your car to get to work. Always remember, it's not how much you make, it how much you spend. My wife and I don't make a ton of money, but...we have 2 cars and a harley paid for. I paid the bike ($18500) off in 9 months and both cars off in less than 2 years (both were around $18000) The only other bill is our house, and i pay extra every month on that. The key is finding a happy medium between working either 2 jobs or extra on your normal job, and saving. You can't work all time 'cause you'll money but you'll be misable with no time to spend it. Also, you can't save everything because you'll feel like you never can reward yourself. So you need to find that happy medium. I takes work but if you work hard at it it will pay off. I've been working hard at saving for about 7 years now and it's paying for itself now. I live comfortably with alot of money going towards retirement and savings and yet enjoy things like my motorcycle and home theatre system. Hope this helps.

Constantly watch your wallet. Before thinking about eating out, look at the money in your wallet, its better to eat at home and save a good 5-20 bucks a day. Look at how much you spend every day and try to lower that. Look at all the bills you have to pay every month and calculate how much that is going to take away from you and how much you have left over. Save at least 10% every month from what is left over and you can deposit it in a savings account too as that might help you from digging in there and using it on things you don't need. When you do spend your money, be frugal and always count your change. When you have left over change, don't throw it anywhere, keep a jar where you can put it in and it will build up. It's amazing how a little change can add up to a lot. The key is trying not to spend much and make smarter choices about where your money is going. It's good to have a place or account where you save a set amount of money every month. That will be your savings money that you can use for whatever your saving up for as well as an emergency stash in case of a car break down or something of that urgency.

First, only go to the store with a list of things you need and don't shop for anything else. If it wasn't on your list, then you really didn't need it.
Second, never give the exact change. Use a $10 or $20 bill and put the change in your piggy bank, it will add up pretty fast.
Third, if you can have your employer do a "direct deposit" to your savings account, figure out your bills and budget your money. For instance, if you need approximately $200 a week to pay your bills, groceries, gas for your car, utilities, entertainment, etc... and you clear $300 a week, then have your employer automatically deposit $100 a week into your savings account and try to avoid using the ATM machine. If you cut out unnecessary things, you will find that you can still enjoy life and will be able to save at the same time. Just put your mind to it and tell yourself "I can do it!".

Simple. Don't spend money on eating out, alcohol, cigarettes, or cable TV.
Cook and eat at home, no TV dinners but made-from-scratch food. It's the cheapest way to eat.
Get a full time job, not a part time one. Preferably something with benefits.
Basically, stop spending money on "fun" things until after you are sure you have enough to cover the "necessary" things.

you might want to consider living near your work place and not having car, becouse car cost alot just for car maintenence.
start saving , perhaps 10$ aweek( pay yourself first) , set up automatic account where your money get deducted straight from your bank account for saving every week.save even just alittle bit (for rainy day)
cook the food that has cheap ingredient ,like thin fish, noodle or if its on sale ,stock up! i used to buy coffee that cost me 10$ amonth but now i bought that when it is on sale for 10$ in large can it last 3 months.
find shopping coupon , it save you lots of money.
Don't buy take away.make sandwich at home or eat at home. or cook in large quantity that the food can last for 2-3 days.such as ,beef stroganoff, casseroles etc.
Shop in Wal mart or any shop that doesn't sell expensive stuff
or you might want ot work in the weekend also.
Good luck.
