My 15 month old son and myself both got our flu shots on Thursday. Saturday my son got a temperature of 103...Gave him tylenol but have been battling the temperature ever since. It's now Monday early morning (1am) and his temperature is 102. I've called the ER and talked to a triage nurse 4 different times. They keep telling me I don't have to bring him in. What am I supposed to do? He's miserable and I'm worried!!!

I got sick on Saturday morning. I was throwing up and felt really horrible. My injection site is bruised and had a big red hard bump on it (my sons site looks fine). The red bump has almost gone away but again I called the ER and they told me not to come in.

The nurses tell me it's a "coincedence" and not because of the flu shot!!

It is not a coincidence. It is more than likely the flu shot. Take him to the doctor, and go for yourself. The flu shot is STUPID... Notice how you have to get one every year? It is because the virus mutates and is different every year. I have always refused flu shots for my kids, I have 3. My oldest is 5 and has been in preschool for 2 years (due to when his b-day falls) and he has never had anything. The health department in my area will not give flu shots to anyone here unless they have lowered immune system (like the elderly or people with auto-immune diseases). We have survived alot worse than the flu, for example, scarlet fever (from experience as a kid) is much wore than the flu, why don't they immunize against it?

I'm so sorry that you had the shots before you found out about flu shots. They are the biggest scam I've seen from the medical community.

1st issue with flue shots: Ingredients.
-weakened strain of the flu (which is why it is normal to get the flu after getting a flu prevention shot)
-mercury (may be a link to autism)
-aluminum
-ethelyne glycol (you may be more familiar with its other name: anti-freeze)
-formaldehyde
Would you whip up a batch of that and take it? Nah, me neither. But for some reason certain people in the medical field (who benefit $rom it...intentional typo) seem to think that this is healthy for us... every year.

2nd issue with flu shots: they aren't a guarantee that you still won't get the flu. Even people who have had flu shots get the flu, and that's excluding getting the flu from the shot itself.

There's some big trend now that they're trying to scare people into getting flu shots, but they don't work and they can certainly cause more harm than good. Personally, I'd rather spend a few days in bed each year than to have to deal with autism, alzheimer's disease, and whatever other irreversible damages they can cause.

Usually when people get sick after getting the flu shot is because they already had the virus in them, becaues of the long incubation time they don't realize it until after they get the shot. Or the body is fighting off a smaller amount of the flu in the body and then when injected with the flu shot the body can no longer battle it off, it can be a hit and miss when it comes to getting a flu shot. If the temperature again reaches 103 I'd go ahead and take your son to the ER or see the doctor in the morning. You usually don't want the fever to get over 103.

It could be the shot or it could be something you picked up from the doctors office. If you can't keep anything down do ice chips and 7up. If you have a children's hospital in your area call and consult a doctor before you go up there. He might need IV fluid if he is really bad, but there is not much you can do for a child that small you can try reducing the fever with a cool moist towel and give him plenty of fluids, but there is little the hospital can do to treat him. They do not have anything that really fights viruses. The shot sometimes lowers the immune system so you can pick up anything a lot easier.

I'm here to tell you that some people who are very sensitive wind up getting a case of the flu from the shot and it sounds very much to me like you and your son are experiencing getting the flu from the shot. I get a horrible case of the flu from the flu shot and quit getting them...if I'm going to get the flu anyhow and sometimes a worse case of it why take the shot? There are no coincidences; they intentionally inject you with a case of the flu to help you avoid a severe case of it and it works for some folks and not for others. I'd say if your son continues running a high fever take him to his regular physician.

most dr's will tell you that until your baby hits a temp of 104 then it's not really a temperature because their body runs at a higher rate then adults do. It sucks when the little ones get sick, my son gets sick EVERY time he gets his flu shot (he is 21 months) it's just a matter of taking care of him and making sure he gets his medicine on a regular basis. There isn't much more that a doctor can do. If you're worried though schedule an appointment. Tell the nurse you want your child to be seen by his or her doctor and they can't deny you that.

Could be a coincedence. But when you get a flu shot they are actually injected the virus into you who your body can build up anti-bodies. It usually very weak. But sometimes the flu-shot doesn't always work. Scientist test all the flu strains in the world and narrow it down to one that they think will come to the US. Sometimes they are wrong, sometimes they are right.

give your son a semi warm bath especially wetting his head to help cool him off along with the tylenol as perscribed and make sure he doesn't get dehydrated. i was told to do this when my daughter had her first immunizations incase she got a fever. if it doesn't clear up in another day i would definitly go to urgent care or make an emergency appointment with your sons ped. some say you can't get sick form the flu shot but that is total bs and it does happen.

In some cases, people and kids can react in a bad way to flu shots. He needs to go in to see a doctor quickly.
