How profound my question is really is dependant on who I ask.
The question i've always had is this:
You hear all your life that you're special to God... that he loves you and died on the cross for you. But how am I so special? He loves everyone he's created and we are all special to him. What is it about JUST ME that is so important... that is different from everyone else? If God doesnt have favorites and loves everyone equally... then there really isnt anything that makes me anymore special than the next person...although in my heart I long to be.
This is the most profound question I can think to ask because i've wondered it ever since I was a small child sitting in sunday school. Its a question that still grips my heart and is left unanswered...or if it has been answered it just hasnt clicked yet.

Do we have free will or do we not have free will? If there is an all knowing god, then we can't have free will because god already knows everything we are going to think or do. If we do have free will, then god can't be all knowing, and that would limit god's power. Also, if everything obeys predictable laws of physics, then doesn't that also mean that we may not have free will. The argument for free will is that at the atomic level, an electron is unpredictable and since electrons are everywhere, then it leaves room for some free will. This is still a question of debate among many philosophers.

Is 'rational' a matter of opinion?
The answer to this question reveals a persons metaphysics, epistemology, ethics and politics.
If 'rational' is open to question or doubt, 1 and 1 may equal 7 or 42 - there can no method of establishing or verifying facts or evidence and therefore can be no such things as logic or knowledge and no valid concepts of right or wrong... The miraculous and supernatural have equal or greater significance than any scientific 'theory' and, worst of all, if rational is a matter of opinion there can be no such thing as a reasonable demand.
Can there be any such thing as a reasonable demand(?) is a corollary of the first question. To be reasonable is also to be rational ie, When is it reasonable to be irrational? - When is it rational to be unreasonable?...
Edicts, fiats or decrees may be demands but these require no reasons, only faith or fear etc.
The demand to be reasonable is the basis of justice and the rule of law and depends on the fact the 'rational' can be proved by reference to the facts of reality. If you find someone who answers this question emphatically NO, and they can also explain why it must be NO, you have found a person of justice and reason.

Where have I come from and where am I to go?
This is my most profound question because it relates to my entire being... in the absence of a convincing answer to this question, my entity becomes meaningless and I no longer feel alive, since nothing seems to be in my control and I feel like wandering aimlessly for a finite minuscule part of the vast time-span that this universe represents...... my life looks like a short and sweet nothing!!

"Why should we be just or good?"
This question has enormous consequence in our daily lives, whether it be observing the value of human life, addressing world poverty, or observing intellectual property laws. Answering this question convincingly has the power to change an individual, a nation, and our world--not answering it also has very deep and very real implications. Just my two cents.

Where does love come from?
It may or may not be rhetorical, but it is laden with rhetoric.
