You don't have to write a poem but do some writing. Write yourself a letter, write a short story, or just brainstorm your thoughts. It always helps me.

To your first question, no, I've never becone depressed. But I might be a bit embarrassed and do some soul searching. Ettiquette - as a rule, is for polite society. Manners are for friends. The difference is, Ettiquette is more formal and more of the rules are arbitrary, like which fork the eat with and who walks on the left. Manners are just kindness you do for other people - like not burping in people's faces (and sometimes there is an exception to this, depending on the gender of the people involved) or covering your mouth when you cough. (this is a nice health gesture). Manners would tell us not to call without permission after 9pm or to say thank you when you get a gift. So, if you broke all the manner rules, that might be worth some guilt, it would mean you were inconsiderate of others. If you broke all the ettiquette rules, it means you've never had dinner with royalty. As to the second part - it's your fault. People blame genetics for everything these days, but the truth is, you're old enough to read an ettiquette book, you're old enough to make your own decisions. You have free will, certainly you've known for a while that ettiquette books exist, and chose instead to be a barbarian. And that isn't necessarily evil, lots and lots and lots of people are barbarians for their whole lives. They have some manners, but they don't have and ettiquette and they don't need it. It depends on the way you want others to percieve you - as suave and sophisticated like James Bond, or one of the guys - like all those non fictional people out there. If you are invited to dinner with the queen, you better brush up on your fruit forks. Otherwise, some basic ettiquette should serve you well, good manners will make you a good person.

You are doing something right now you sitting and feeling sorry for yourself. If you do drink you will only cry in your beer but you can't drink you don't have any money. So where to go from here?

I would just write. You seem to like that and I don't mean to say to think and write just write as there was no tomorrow. If your listening to music it should give you a mood to start writing with after a few min. read back and see if it is going some place that might help to give you direction for a poem later.

Just a thought.

What? Do you want us to just tell you that it's OK to sit around and sulk and get drunk? Sure, go ahead -- but don't think you will feel any better.

The best way to feel better is to HELP SOMEONE ELSE. Go out and do some volunteer work. There are people FAR worse off than you -- you at least have a house and a computer! And, apparently, money for alcohol.

Whatever you do, DON'T get a pet. How unfair would it be to saddle a poor dog or cat with a depressed, alcoholic owner?

If you don't get yourself out of your rut, soon, YOU will need the volunteers to help you...as you sit helpless and drunk in the street.

You might want to start a journal; you write so well it would be an interesting read to come back to in the future tense. You can write about how terribly depressed you are. Or how people all suck or whatever. Or maybe what you dream of . You could do that. Nobody would know.

drinking will make you more depressed. take a nice shower
put on some nice clothes and go to a battered womens
shelter or nursing home or veterens home and read to some
of them. they might even be able to tell you some good stories about their lives and you can get the inspiration to
write poems again. you can always take the bus, or if its a
short distance walk.

write a list of how you want to see your life in five years.
imagine it as if it is real.
that will bring it into your life.
The Secret is life.
use it.
learn it.
live it.
=]
also, coming up with a goal that takes a while always gives me something to look forward to.
ex. choose something you want, but that will take some time.
what i am working on is fixing my skin and growing out my hair.
it gives me something to look forward to.
hope this helps!!!
take care and keep your chin up. that actually will help make you happier!!!=D

You sound like me except I don't drink to drown my depression anymore. I am never sure what to do either. It's so frustrating. Draw, sleep, or meditate are some suggestions.

have any pets they are good to play with. art is always fun, make something, bake something etc,
I love to paint in my spare time if you have any go paint. or i play piano also when i don't have anything else to do

Don't drink by yourself, that is too alcoholicy

edit: well then try to bake something, go online and look up recipes to cater to what you have in your house and learn how.

There's always going to your library and learning if you're desperate, college libraries are open late.

did the art thing not work for you

You're obviously going through a very rough time in your life. Use it to your advantage; write your autobiography, one page a day when you're feeling so depressed. When it's finished, edit it and submit it for publication.
