Jacob wrestled with the angel-messenger of God, as Light dawned upon his under-standing, and received a "born-again" Is-Ra-El re-freshing name.
Knowing the "name" of someone in Biblical times was a key to knowing their identity.
Paramahansa Yogananda (in "Autobiography of a Yogi, http://www.yogananda-srf.org ) discusses the Hindu practice of meditating in a cemetary.
Your concern is at the point of Kant's "categorical imperative," i.e., being unable to Realize God, Kant or anyone has an ethical obligation to act as if the action were a universal law. Thus, for you to live a pure, virtuous life, helps to that extent the joy, kindness, and civility of mankind. Per Hobbes' rational morality, a rational human being would not choose otherwise.
And, of course, the collective of integral configuration which your atoms have is a super-fortunate winning of the lottery. Most atoms in the universe are not nearly so sentient, so able to look at stars, go to college, etc.
Even more "unknown" in your scenario is "your God." Basically Pascal's wager: act in the "Love God completely, love colleague as Self, and love as Christ Jesus, Truth, loves" three concentric spheres of being fulfilling of the Law and the Prophets, and you advance toward infinite gain. This is a logically acceptable wager, both from a kantian/hobbesian ratio, and from Pascal's perspective. To do otherwise is to risk an infinite loss and be unkantian/unhobbesian, Plotinus forbid!
So the stasis you revolve around is being "odd man out" re the Oneness awareness of Plotinus, the God-realization of Husserl, Buber's I-Thou, Yogananda's Self-realization, and so forth.
Thus, you probably would do well to undertake (no pun intended) a closer walk with Jesus, or/and find some meditation protocol, keep a dream journal, etc.
Some inspirational books to this (hint: well worth reading especially while in college, as 1/2 hour recreational breaks, along with a walk, etc.; listed in order of approximate Christian emphasis):
"The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis;
"Expecting Adam," Martha Beck;
"University of Destruction," David Wheaton;
"Men in White Apparel" and "Watch Your Dreams," Ann Ree Colton;
"Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet;
"Life before Life," Jim Tucker, M.D.;
"The Master of Lucid Dreams," Dr. Olga Kharitidi.
best regards,
j.

I'm not a Christian, but having read the Bible from cover to cover twice in my lifetime, I can recall a passage such: "Seek, and ye shall find". And I believe this.
You sound like a very sincere and honest young man, and I would counsel you to try the following exercise, regularly for a month or two - on a daily basis - and see what comes to you.
Pick a spot somewhere that is quite as possible; you must be completely alone and feel safe and secure. Sit down, lay down, sit cross-legged - what ever postion you feel most confortable in and can maintain for a good long time - while regulatting your breathing; then pick a point 5-6 ft. in front of you, and stare at it relentless, don't blink your eyes.
After a while, your eyes will begin to water. Pay no attention, unless it becomse unbearable; then have a soft white piece of cotton handy with which you can wipe away the tears. Continue the practice even after you may have to wipe your eyes.
Eventually, a stillness and profound feeling of well-being will come over you; at this point, ask your questions concerning the meaning of it all.
Answers will come that may not please you, but you will know that they are the truth. What you are attempting to discover, countless numbers of human begins down thru the ages have sought before you; few have succeeded. You may be one of the lucky ones.
Good luck,
Wotan

Firstly about the point of a pure life. I think there is even more point to leading a good and pure life if you do it for the benefit of mankind, of which you are a part, than for a God which may or may not exist.
The point is that if mankind accepts leading a good life as a necessity you receive the benefit from others as well as give it to others.
To do it for God is just pandering to the ego of something which derives no benefit.
About our microscopic place in the universe and our mortality, it is very scaring to have both mortality and the intelligence to be aware of it. I hate knowing that I am going to die but nothing is more certain for any of us.

Hi.I am a Christian and at times wondered if there really is a God who is responsible for everything in the Universe. I think it is natural to question the validity of a Creator,especially one whom we can't see. And i know we use the word "faith" as our reason which somehow is not a good answer.When i look up at the stars at night i am looking into the past which gives me a strange feeling.I have put myself into a kind of self hypnotic trans as i stare longer and longer at the stars.It is a very strange feeling and hard to put into words but at some point i have to snap out of it as i feel i am going crazy.I'm not sure if you know what i mean. I have done this in the daytime also just by starring at nothing in particular but focusing my mind on "is this being alive" and saying to myself what does all this mean, why is it like it is, what would there be if this suddenly disappeared, then its time to come back to reality as i become very anxious.It then becomes easier to believe in God,because why would i act this way in the first place.

um sure. I process the whole thing in that mentality day-to-day. When I pass into 7-eleven I'll positioned simply that so much suggestion and strain on myself to make a decision if I wish a blueberry donut or do I wish to play it trustworthy and pass with the conventional glazed? The results of my resolution might significantly influence the direction of my day... week... and ultimately lifestyles. Think approximately it. If I prefer (let's imagine) the glazed donut. That specific donut might had been included in glaze that had ecoli or anything. My resolution to devour that donut might motive me to get ill and must depart paintings early. Leaving paintings early might outcome in me getting fired. Getting fired might motive my gf to depart me and for my private price range to turn out to be nill. I might finally end up homeless and must pawn all of my stuff to by way of peptobysmol. My lifestyles might then input a downward spiral wherein I grow to be begging for pennies at the road nook..... .... all of this might have occurred in view that I made the unhealthy resolution in identifying the glazed donut. So you notice, I put on each and every alternative as a lifestyles or dying situation. Act for that reason!

i did -- when i was in school. And my ex-boyfriend who was also still in school (changed schools and majors) only lay around in bed all day crying about the universe and refusing to get up and go outside for a walk.
I'm an adult now, with a job, so i don't worry about these things. The way i see it, the universe is infinite, my brain is not, therefore the universe is too big to fit in my head.
Me trying to figure out the universe is like a cockroach trying to learn computer programming. It aint gonna happen.
Of course, there are people who feel they know stuff for certain, but of course, they never agree with each other, and never understand why they cant' get everyone in the whole world to agree with them too. They are like cockroaches who spend SO long looking at a screen-full of C++ that they fall under the impression that they understand it. But they don't. They are the worse kinds of all.

Humans, do not stop at killing each other, they also indiscriminately kill the Animals, the Fish, pollute the Water and the Air, Rape and Brutalize and Torture.

First off, avoid any cemetery! Find another road! That will help you. Life is, in fact, fragile. I don't question it, I question myself, I study, learn, inquire. Anxiety is fear of the future, since the future don't exist; why fear tomorrow? Integrity, not purity should prevail! Purity is far fetch Get books on meditation, yoga, etc... you'll get some responses and become less anxious. Take of yourself!
