Salomon Storm Snowboard.
159 cm

Does it come waxed or should I wax it? What type of wax would you recommend?

I believe it comes detuned, but what should I get in the future for further tuning?

I would get it hot waxed - this will help protect the base especially in the early season when there may still be some obstacles that could scratch your base.

It shouldn't need to be tuned right now when it is new - I have my board tuned and waxed once per year (about 12 - 15 days of riding) and it seems to be enough.

Good Luck

It's always best to have a board freshly waxed before you start your year, even a new one.

The type of wax you have put on should be in line with the conditions and temperature that you will be riding in most.

How often you should wax the board is really determined by how often you ride and for how long during each session. (Conditions also play a factor.) A general rule of thumb could be every 3-5 times (yes some will say more and others will say less but it's really about how the board feels to you isn't it.) But you do need to do it often enough to keep the bottom of your board well protected and in decent shape.. Conditions that you might consider, icy-really takes a toll on the bottom of your board and your edges, end of season-possible bare spots mixed with slushy stuff and chunks of ice equals the need for more frequent care.

Your edges are very unlikely detuned on that board and on most new boards for that matter. There are a few new park boards that come with a "detune" because of the material they use on the edge-like the new Artifact from Rome that has bronze edges so they dull faster and are softer so they won't catch on rails as easily. But even those are few. Most companies are instead changing the angle of the edge instead of actually detuning it. The style of riding that you plan to do the most of should determine what type of edge you want on your board and how often they need to be managed.

Without more info that's the best I can give you. Have a great season.
