Technology does make our lives easier in some ways, but it also increases the rat race mentality. There seems to be more "I got mine, and if you can't get your own, sc rew you" kind of mentality which increase pressure to succeed or in some cases, just survive. There used to be more cooperation....things like barn raisings, and quilting bees, and other instances where the whole community would pull together to help each other. Now people are expected (especially by conservatives) to be able to stand on their own two feet, and make it with no help from anyone. I think that attitude is shameful. *sm*

Because we as a nation has become addicted to the laziness which technology affords us. In short, because of technology we have become used to having everything being done for us at the click of a button.
As an example, cash registers automatically do the math to give back our change, you call a company to place an order, or pay a bill and rarely if at all do you get a real person. We have cell phones that we can use as a phone a computer, play music, watch TV.
We hang out with our friends, yet most people are texting each other so they really aren't hanging out "together", hell with sites like my space kids don't even need to go outside and play to make friends.
And on the occasion when the technology we've become so co-dependent on fails to work properly those who are a slave to this technology are lost, for a number reasons thus causing more stress than the situation requires.
No to digress to much, but this technology be will a contributing factor to our eventual demise.

Too much easy access to you and from you to the world.
My work tools - computer, research databases, e-mail, telephone - are available to me 24/7. While this may increase my productivity, it also blurrs the line between private and work life. I also sometimes think I am less productive during work hours because I know I can put things off.
The worst for me is cell phones. I dumped mine about 4 months ago and have noticed a signifigant decrease in stress. Most of my call were BS that could wait, but made me feel harrased and alwasy seemed to come when I could not answer them. I don't miss it at all.

Our state had them sneak in the gambling boatsmy friend and I wondered the same thing as his entire family wa at one. He and i hoed the plants, shot a few rounds, palyed dominos, worked on some equipment and then watched a game.
Then everything is a cell phone, an ipod, you got to work them and figure them out and do al the stuff. It may be quicker, but you have to do more. like microwaving, you may have to cover it, then put it in, make sure you don't under or over cook it, push the button (I have to bend down) and then take it out and not burn yourself and make it is cooled or nuke your stomach.
Then you can really cook something. more time spent, but you are doing something and have time to do other things, instead of being rushed. We rush here and there.
Why be rushed, take a walk. If you use a dishwasher you wash athe dishes and then put them in. Hint, I just put hot water over them and then put them in na dthey come out well.
This friend would tell me at Christmas they were tickled to get an apple. He was killed when getting a stint put in and the place covered it up, but his sister had flown in and she was a MD and got it out of them.Funny in this state they can drop someone on a concrete floor and make them an invalid and cover it up. No reason to sue as they stack the deck against you. Like the lady that got $50 million from McDonalds for the hot coffee, sounds good, but they always appeal and lose, she got nothing, but the media didnn't report that. As far as the place i am talking about they have killed many on simple thing and I pray I can tag them with RICO Act violations and insurance fraud. Worked on Al.
But just last night I asked on here "What did yo do before Answers?" Been getting a ton of answers and interesting. The old saying that it takes the same amount of energy to produce a certain amount of energy seems right here.
Almost forgotthe news. Last week I thought was slow as no stories about Britney, but still the same old murder stuff and then the debate. I turn it off sometimes. Well that's my take take care.
Whoa almost forgot, lost trian of thought, but I figured out when I was little why folks up North talk so fast. You see there are a zillion people and as you walk down the road you are saying "Hello", "Excuse me", "Hi", Hello, how youse guys doin?". so it's real fast, but down in the South you're walking along and walking and walking and then see someone and you may wave and then when you get close enough you say "Heey, hoow ya'lll doin" and then they say about the same and then you can stop because you don't hve a million people running behind you. You can stand there and put your hands on your sides or in your pockets and talk for a while, scope out the family and stuff and then mosey on. So I feel that with all the people lthings are getting more on peoples nerves.
Then during the day so much noise and radio, electric wavelenghts. no how you drive under athose giant electrical lines and it buzzes your radio out/ Well they have done reports about people that lived by lines and had radio programs coming out of their toasters and stuff so that does not help. The people deal is getting bad as during the hot days more assaults. take care. See ya'llll laterrrrrrr.

...it's because of "technology"... if you want to live in peace and have a stress free life... build a log-cabin in the woods, cut fire wood, go to bed at sunset and tend your crops by day, breath in the air and relax... the cell phone, computer, ipod, blackberry, dingle-berry, and goose-berry, Starbucks,GPS, DVD, CD, L.M.N.O.P, ATM, LCD, PC, hybyrd-green, carbon foot prints, Hillary and Bill, Bush and Dick, Mahmoud and Osama have all made us NUTS... (what time is "happy" hour...Oye)
