My step daughter does this and the packages are usually too pretty to open.

i like to water colour on brown grocery bags, make colages from magazines, or use my scrap pieces of fabric and pieces of lace and trimmings that i can not use for other projects....it is such a wonderful idea to not waste paper....

I don't really, but I love wrapping gifts. This year, I'm buying a bowmaker from Michaels where I work. Sometimes a really nice bow and beautiful wrapping can "make" a gift. I do lots of knitting, so sometimes I use yarn to tie up the gifts instead of ribbon. There are all kinds of beautiful yarns out there and they add a personal touch. This year, my gifts will have both beautiful ribbons made with the bowmaker and gifts with the yarn tied around them. It makes gift giving more fun and interesting.

I hate the waste of wrapping paper and bows. Some I make like baby crochet blankets and wedding quilts I use to wrap gifts in. I also use towels. I buy up the towels in September when the beach towels go on sale. I buy up the Hawaii print,Sponge Bob, Barbie,Baby Lonnie Tunes, big print Black and white towels, Sheets and pillow cases and even hankies I also use.....I use toy rattles and money for bows. On mother's day I use flowers for my mothers bow. When I went to a friends party and the 99 cents store was closed and I payed way to much money for wrapping paper a bow and a card. I started coming up with other idea other ways to wrap then.

Thinking of years ago when the kids were small and I'd try to save money on wrappings...I'd use the Sunday comics to wrap gifts in - and other times I'd use brown paper bags and then take Elmer's glue and write their names on the package and then sprinkle glitter over the glue. It would end up really pretty. :-)

Yep! I use baking paper - draw on it with crayons, pencils, or textas. Over here (Australia) it's recycled paper - so I
re-recycle it. I'm not very artistic, but a splash of colour goes a long way on a white background! I've not bought wrapping paper in 15 years. I refuse to help the loggers and such like by buying gift paper - OF ANY SORT!

I have done this many times. I will use plain white tissue wrap and various types of paints to personalize wrap for different occasions. I just have fun with it. I'll bet that your step daughter has done some fabulous wrap designs and I'm sure that you have many of her wraps saved too!

Used to many years ago. Now I go to the dollar store and get my cheap wrapping paper. Kids used to do it for my gifts and it was almost like getting another present. Miss that.

I was always using newspapers to wrap gifts, it's kind of a joke in my family, a fun thing. Sometimes I cut it all crooked and make it real messy and say our dog or kitties helped me wrap it. lol Once when we owned our furniture store I used our newspaper ad to wrap a gift for my cousin's baby shower, she loved it.

I LOVE to receive gifts in pretty, personalized gift wrap. And I love to give gifts wrapped pretty...but I'm no good at it!!! I'd love to take a class in learning how to do it though..I admire all these people who say they do it and gave them a thumbs up. Maybe you should too!!! "You Go Girls!!!"

Haven't made the paper itself, but have seen two cute ideas for "silly" value that put smiles all around. One was the want ads of newspapers tied with red satin, the bows, hand-tied. The other, brown kraft paper with crepe paper streamers for ribbon and matching dyed feathers where bows would be.
