My sister folds her bills certain ways.
For instance, a dollar is folded in half length-wise, a five is folded in half width-wise, a twenty has one corner folded down to the bottom of the bill, etc etc.
I think all blind people do the same thing, actually.
She learned her techniques for living as a blind person at a school for the blind. It's amazing that she not only keeps house, runs the office-end of a business, does her own make-up and hair, irons clothes and cooks without help. Those schools are well worth the investment of time and money it takes to attend....

I do believe that blind people deal with their own, personal money in the same way that multiple people have already described. The folding technique seems to be the most obvious way to differentiate between each individual bill.
I'm sure coins would be able to be distinguished by size and pattern. Each coin is a different size and has grooves and bumps which would help distinguish them.
Another easy way would be to use credit or debit cards instead of bills, to avoid confusion on their own personal part. Also to avoid being ripped-off by cashiers who, I think, wouldn't hesitate to rob a blind person.

Outside of the US, most paper money has codes printed on them which can be felt by the blind. This helps them when receiving money from a stranger.
