How? Is it really scarcity of food or are some people just too poor to afford these food so they starve to death? Obviously we are taking a lot from the Earth, but is it more knowledge that we have about it leading us to believe that the human race is harming the Earth or is the Earth naturally in a cylcle where it will end one day?

Yes! We are hurting the Environment, but no more so than the flora or fauna around us. I'm tired of activists trying to make me feel guilty about what is happening in the Idustrial sector. The most upsetting is Global Warming.

Are you tired of elitist preaching to you? The reality is that the Earth has always experienced climate change. The coastal elites look at the mid-west, central inhabitatants and see ignorance. They think we simply "do not understand". I think the ignorant ones are the ones building major cities on the coast and major fault lines that are eventually going to be destroyed.I would equate it to building a house in tornado alley and being suprised when your house is destroyed by an F-5 tornado, Duh!

7,000 years ago the sea level was about 500 feet lower than today. It will continue to rise until the next ICE AGE. Besides a "great leap forward" in our ability to control our environment, the sea level is going to continue to rise. You could kill every man, woman, and child and the global warming would still occur.

Government needs to be working on gradually moving coastal cities inland, or at least stop waisting our money on meaningless protections. Follow the money, who is profiting, and you'll better understand the motivations of environmentalist. It is not proven that we are destroying "Mother Earth". In fact, I think it is rather ignorant to assume that we could.

That is not to say that pollution does not cause serious problems. We can destroy fresh water supply, agriculture, breathable air, etc. However, science and sacrifice will account for our ignorance. These issues should be at the forefront of the activists' agenda, not global warming. Also, death by starvation is simply a result of human greed. There's plenty of resources to feed everyone. Unfortunately, 1% of the world controls 80% of the wealth. Greed and ambition starve people, not pollution.

Oh yea, most likely Earth will survive much longer than man, just ask the others who have fell prey to mass extinctions. Unless we get our heads on straight and devote our full energy into "real" science, not "corporate" science for profit.

If humanity wasn't an intelligent life form, it would be labelled a 'plague'. We continue to grow in number, and the rate at which we grow keeps growing too. We take up more of the Earth's surface with our living areas, use more resources, produce more pollution, farm more animals which also pollute and despite our intelligence, refuse to notice the warning signs.
Earth is filling up, and warming up. The environment has changed so much because of us it becomes difficult to imagine how it was without us.

bien sur!

sometimes i wonder do we really need all the things that we have? can't we live a simpler life around family and friends? is globalisation so necessary?

but that is just for a while. however i try to be cautious towards not harming the environment. i wish i could do much better.

There is no doubt that we take stuff from nature, turn it into harmful by-products, and throw it back into nature as well.

Its pretty sad, and humbling at the same time, because we call ourselves the "highest" form on this planet.

Makes me want to puke on myself.

We are generating an environment unfit for us to live in. If this qualifies as "harm", then yes.

I think we are way past wondering if we are, we are now wondering if we can stop before we kill ourselves off.
