I am the mini-golf prophetess. Seriously. It's cheesy enough to make her laugh, competitive, and fun. First date material. Second dates are dinner and a movie, and then so on and so forth......
See, you have the right idea! Do something fun! it starts conversation and all that good stuff. Plus you don't have to try so hard. And before anyone gets all retarded on me, i am the same age as Rob, so :p

Pretty much anywhere but a movie unless you are going to eat afterwards. its no fun going on a first date if you don't actually get to talk to the date instead of sit in a dark room next to each other for a couple hours.
I would just ask her where she would like to go. Suggest some fun activities like the ones you had in mind and see what she goes for. I personally have a passionate hatred of miniature golf and it does not love me in return. So I would be much happier given the option between that and something else.
I would like to go to something like a museum, a concert that we were both interested in (which is what my fiance did to catch me), or any lame thing that the two of you share an interest in like playing video games together or soccer or what have you. If you can find a girl's secret personal hobby and share it then you will have something she doesnt get tired of talking about.

What about a fair? Is a fair coming up anytime soon!? I've heard good things about going to them on first dates haha. Batting cage sounds good, mini golf too! Or even going into town and grabbing lunch! Window shopping and getting an icecream :)
I'm an easy pleaser, so even coming over, renting movies and ordering in food would be nice.

You already have two good ideas! I guess it depends on where you live...anything that's fun and includes LAUGHTER. Going out to eat is something she can do any ol' time...the movies is out because there's no interaction. LOOFA's hiking idea sounds fun but if you ever want to see her again, don't take her to "a Hasselhoff flick." Oh wait, no danger in that...there aren't any!

ideas for a first date...lets see if it were me i think i would want to go somewhere where i could get to know him and do alot of talking, like a beach(if only)or a park....somewhere where we wont be disturbed.but if you know the person already i would choose a movie at home or a restaurant.something not too cheap but not to fancy.

When I go on my first date, I would hope it was something where I could really get to know the guy, like mini-golf. Idk, have to wait and see!
