Yes - it's normal.
When I first started having anal sex, I was pooping little nuggets - kinda like deer poop.
If you're hurting, it's just that it was too rough or too much. Start off easy next time - perhaps with some anal play and get your area used to it before the actual plunge so to speak.

Your taking to much to fast, that's why it hurts. You have to start small and slow and progress to bigger things until your relaxed enough. Once your relaxed, it will not hurt as much.
