This isnt a question from a fan, just something I cant figure out. Why are some good teams that win a lot of game hated by other fans while other teams are embraced. Example the Patriots are a great team but are hated by everyone whos not in NE. The Yankees are the winningest franchise ever are nicknamed the evil empire and yet have a national following. Dont say its because the Pats cheat because the Pats were hated long before they were caught cheating. Im trying to figure out why some dynasties are loved and others are hated?

I'm not sure your premise is on target. There are a couple of factors involved here.

One, few dynasties are ever loved by anyone but their own fans. People want to see their own teams win. If another team wins four straight titles, it's like your sister hogging all the ice cream and not sharing. Eventually these winning teams can earn respect, but are rarely embraced by outsiders.

Two, there are some issues with big cities/small cities. New York is in some ways the capital of the world, dictating financial and communication trends among other things. Some people are never going to be happy looking up to New York if they live elsewhere. Then a baseball team comes along, and prevents their team from adding to the feeling. Think the Yankees will be embraced under those circumstances?

There's a fan issue too. There are more New Yorkers, so you hear more about them from friends and more about them in the media and more about them through books. Run into many Colts' fans lately? And since there are plenty of ex-New Yorkers who have moved elsewhere, the Yankees attract plenty of their fans in other cities. You don't see that with the Kansas City Royals.

In other words, winning brings out the extremes, especially from a big city. (San Antonio's Spurs haven't caused that much passion over the years.) The Yankees have a huge fan base, but they are probably the most hated team in sports as well. Now that the Red Sox have won a couple of times, you'll see people love them and hate them in the same way. It's all part of the ongoing story of fun and games.

The first answer hit it on the nail... teams like the Yankees, Patriots, 90s Cowboys, recent Lakers are hated because of lack of class and brashness about doing things. Other Dynasties like the 90's Bulls, current Spurs, late 80's 49ers are loved because of the class. Another factor is the teams fans. If the fans of the team like to rub it in everyones face that their teams are successful, everyone else won't like them (N.Y. and Boston horrible at this, Philly would be the worst by we never win lol), while places like San Antonio and San Francisco just seem to enjoy the ride. Theres other factors too, the personalities of the players / coaches, how they achieved their success (if they bought it, no one will like you, think yankees and recent red sox, 90s Cowboys), home grown talent is celebrated. I could probably spout of millions of reasons on this, and I could be completely nuts and my ideas all opinion, could be just perception, who knows?

that's just your perception. pats and yanks have legions of great loyal fans and boo-koos of band wagon jumping fans as well. and it's lonely at the top. when you do good, others are going to take shots at you.
