I want to start my own business. At first I asked my boyfriend to co sign for me a loan since I can't get one for personal reasons and at first he was okay with it then he changed his mind saying he doesn't think my business is a good idea! But I have complete faith in it. I was going to open up a dance studio that teaches ballroom dancing. I've been teaching it for a long time now but I work for someone else and I wanted my own business so I can make more and get my name out there. I told my ex, who is now just a friend, about it who is very well off and he said he will be happy to finance my business. I told my boyfriend about it and he got mad but I really want this and it's not like there is something going on between me and the old boyfriend. So is it okay for me to take the money then?

Honey if you have an EX that wants to lend you money...GO FOR IT and good luck in your new business.

Keep your financial stuff all above-board and on paper... spell out how long you have before you start making payments, and how long the loan term is, and any interest. You will both need that in order to deduct any interest or whatever. You also don't want the ex showing up on the doorstep trying to shake you down for the loan money.

Sounds like your BF is just blocking you.

You might consider starting with workshops in local community centers. Perhaps rent a house with a big living room in an area that is going commercial. I would not recommend getting into a shopping center space right now because the contracts really nail you to the wall.
You can also open your space to a partner that teaches yoga and tai-chi in the mornings.
