He's cool andwe're not the best of friends but I'd like to be friends with him, but we were both invited to a guy's party and we had instant messaged eachother and he said it would be cool if i'd come and stuff like that. He seemed like he had fun at the party and so did I but i found out later that head been texting another friend of mine before the party. He said that he had thought I was being a d*ck and that he was considering not going to the party just because I was going. He lied to my face and on IM and how do I know that he doesn't talk behind my back and lie to me? Should i stay friends with him or become simple acquatinces? Help?

Listen... you need to get a little something down. There are FRIENDS and there are ACQUAINTANCES... even within family groups.
Acquaintances only call you when they want something... bring a present to a birthday party, or come when they call. These people are "users" at best. They typically don't care about you or anything going on in your life. You always wonder where you stand with these people until you put 2 + 2 together.
What you have there is an acquaintance. Not someone to depend on or worry about.
Friends are different. They are there for you, usually share common interests, offer a shoulder to cry on, cheer you on, and want the best for you.
At some point, you need to evaluate each relationship and ask, "What does this person bring to the table?" Is this person a mooch? A user? A manipulator? A drama-queen? A time-waster? Or is this person your cheering section? Provide insight? Make you laugh?
As you go down the list of traits and how each thing makes you feel, you will know who you should be spending more time with.

well dude you may not care hearing from a 15 yr old but i think you should tell him that if hes gonna talk behind your back and be a dick and lie then you dont want to be friends anymore cause people like that usually get you in alot of trouble and can get you easly involved with the law so i think you should ditch him.

friends and associates
Friends u can trust and know they wont talk smack behind your back and will back you up.
Associates is people u just associate with.he seems to me that he would be a associate.lolz
