Im going to get a bala shark and i already have everything set and ready to go but....?

I hear people saying to get a heater because they are tropical fish but i went to petco and they told me that they dont need one.

Not that I'd believe everything you hear at Petco, but what SIZE did they tell you this fish would be as an adult? And what size tank it would need?

Did they also mention it should be in schools of at least 3?


Actually, whether or not you'll need a heater will depend on the consistent temperature of the room where they'll be kept, but I would advise having one. You can check on the info as far as temperature and adult size in these links:

Balas are tropical fish and would need a heater... They also grow very big so make sure you have enough space for them..
