I think that, in a sense, everyone does. Based on your description, however, I don't believe that means people take themselves too seriously. Your explanations fall under the categories of self confidence issues and renting yourself out as a scapegoat for other people. I do all the time, but I'm anything but serious...

No.. i just put everyone before my self.. like if im throwing a party instead of sitting down and being with my guests i spend the whole night trying to make sure they have everything they need... youknow? i dont enjoy myself so other people can have a good time

No. I never take myself seriously. It's only stressful. I prefer to be carefree and happy, all the time. And if ever comes a day when I can't be happy and carefree, it will be time for pills for me. Wow, look at that, I'm a poet and didn't know it. hehehe

I would have said that I do take myself seriously, but in the text you referring to that makes it sound more like guilt. Some dear friends helped me to drop the word "guilt" from my vocabulary permanently.
But I do take *myself* seriously!
