Depends on how long it's been going on. You could have laryngitis, or possibly another vocal cord problem. I'd get a referral to an ENT (Ear, Nose, & Throat) doctor to find out for sure.

In the meantime, you can check your symptoms against the two main causes of voice changes here:

Best of luck!

Strange, usually only happens to pubescent boys or old men, but not much inbetween. Maybe you need some vocal training or something. Usually these things are the result of an untrained, uncontrolled voice. In public speaking, it can be detrimental, it'll make you sound nervous, so it's best to get it checked out now.

Or maybe you just have a naturally high pitched voice. But I'd say unless it's as high pitched as Ross Matthews, you got nothing to worry about.

Mine does 2! Im 14 but i know its not puberty or nuthen like that...well, idk. But i cough a lot lately 2 so that may be it. Tha only thing that confuses me is that it does it every nite around tha same time, usually after 11:00 or a lil while after. So it makes it hard 2 talk on tha phone. I jus play it off by talkin low and they think im bein nice. lol
