I've been acting for quite a long time now, and LOVE it! In gr.7 I got offered a job with a talent agency, but had to turn it down because my mom wasn't ready to let me into the business. I love theatre acting anyways. So I got into highschool and had no time for acting, and in drama class I'm shy to go full out in front of my peers. The school play leads only go to gr.12s so that's not an option. It's been a year and I'm settled in school now, Is there any way I can get back into acting not through my school? Are there full year round drama schools? I've been to quite a few summer ones... ideas?

YOU mean you have been out of acting for a long time now. You had no time for acting in HS but you are still in HS and you want to know where you can act. You love acting and you are shy in front of your peers. You must love your peers more than you love acting or you wouldn't care what your peers thought when you acted. You mean you were offerred representation by an agency in gr. 7, they don't offer children jobs. And we might want to ask which agency, as some are not quite what they seem to be. And we might want to know why there are so many contradictions in your question. You afraid you can't cut it with the HS drama kids? Why don't you be in the plays in supporting or little roles? Too stuck up for that? Good actors aren't. So what it all boils down to here is that for some reason you are avoiding doing HS theatre which is exactly what you should be doing if you are wanting to be an actor, because there are few roles for teens in community theatre. My advice to you it to make peace with yourself and your peers and your upperclassmates and get in there are earn a spot in the school plays by doing crew work and walk on parts.

Try your local acting groups. Most cities or counties have a local amateur theater group. I would start there. Look in the phone book under theater groups or plays. Ask your teacher if they know of any or call the local chamber of commerce.

Break a leg.
