In reference to mankind as a whole.

I like that you phrased this as a more/less rather than an either/or. Personally, I find it difficult to feel like more than an observer in any macroscopic sense. I act and participate within my tiny sphere, but in terms of participating on a level when one is discussing mankind as a whole, I very much feel like an observer. I act to affect the things I can - taking care of family and friends, trying to do my job well, etc. - but in a broader sense, I am just watching the world with (almost) everyone else.

I think I was born as an observer, and I enjoy it
I am a participant when I feel I can be a help or fill a need,
or if I have a need! Yet I like being a low profile behind the
scenes, I only come up front if I feel some thing very passionate about that needs done, that is not getting the
attention it needs,--------------At least this is how I see my self,
others may not!

I am most definitely an observer. I watch. I watch people interact with each other and with the environment. I watch children play, alone or in groups. I feel like I get knowledge and inspiration from what I observe.
On the other hand, I have a very hard time interacting with people unknown or even familiar to me. I tend to stare off into space and have long silences in social situations.

I see myself as an observer WAY more than a participant.I'm a very quiet person. It's hard for me to open up to people and because of that I often find myself watching others.I participate alot more than I did when I was younger...but I would still rather observe and be silent.

I'm first and foremost an observer more than a participant. I guess those who see me as an observer are the best observers of all.
