my desires determine everything i do or dont do.

It is other way around as well.

Thoughts when gets rooted in us, we desire to achieve some thing. When desire gets rooted in us, we are attached to that goal. When attachment grows like a flame then we are determined to achieve the goal. When we are determined, we water the determination tree with more thoughts to strengthen it. Thus we gather strength to reach the goal. So this determination and strength helps us achieve the goal that we desired. To achieve the goal we need to act on our thoughts and desires. Therefore, now it has been achieved.

Our achievement creates a thought ripple in others to desire and so on it goes and grows.
