I owe my college $40 before I can register for my Winter 2008 classes? I do have a job and will be $40 short after I pay my bills. If I ask my family for the money they will just yell, cuss or get a serious attitude and probably tell me "no!" Can you give me a way on coming up with $40.

You might ask your boss for an advance or a workmate for a loan. You could also try to juggle a bill or two, maybe make partial payments now and make up the difference later. Failing that, take a walk down your block and offer to wash four cars for $10 each.

Sell books or cds on half.com

When I was at MSU, they had a short term loan program for small amounts of cash. I think the limit was about $50. Check to see if your school has that kind of a program. If so, just make sure you pay back the money, or you will have bigger problems down the road.

Do you have a friend who could lend you the bucks you need? Maybe you can give them your most treasured possession to hold as collateral.

Can you take a 2nd job for a few weeks, maybe with a temporary agency or something? Lots of places are currently hiring seasonal workers for the holidays. It would be tough if you're already working and going to school, but for a couple of weeks it should be do-able. As a matter of fact, I did it for 2 years!

Baby sitting. Look for someone who needs odd jobs around the house. As amatuer as that sounds it normally works. Also you can go to a temp agency and just find work for like one day

Hmmm...try community service work by cleaning up after one of the college's football games. Big money...alot of trash.
